How does seraphim look like exactly?

Not really that serious question, but it keeps crawling in my mind. I keep that belief that it is supposed to be like human with 3 pairs of wings. It tends to be artistically 6 wings of same size, two pairs covering the body and head, one for flying. Though I also saw this carving trying to look ancient, though I wonder if it is...

It made me wonder, if the angelic wings are actually glowing, they might be indistinguishable from white glowing cloths. Could it be that these birds have only single pair of the wings, that glows just like the clothes they are wearing? Or are they actually naked around their god? Doesn't sound solid, thinking how he hates nudity...

Thoughts?

No, He threw Eve out of Paradise when she covered up..

With angels, I always see / picture them as the 80's Marvel Comics Angel (and Valkyrie from the same period). Probably not how a die hard grimoirian sees them but that's okay.
I wonder why Seraphim (burning serpents) would look like a human with six wings instead of a badass fire breathing winged cobra though.

I call them sometimes for composing. Never saw them visually in a direct way, but can pinpoint exactly the ideas in the music where they influenced what I was doing.

It is interesting to mention that I always got a intense burning sensation on my back between my shoulders together with tingling sensations in my non dominant hand. Together with a metal-like taste in my mouth. The center of my body, just above the navel tends to lift up more naturally. The tingling sensation is more between the pinky finger and the ring finger. For me that is why I suspect that they like to influence the unconscious more than the conscious. If you watch a human hand, the index finger and the tumb are the fingers that we use the most in a conscious way. The other fingers more react to what is happening which connects them more to the unconscious. The burning sensation is not necessairy a nice sensation, more like the feeling of being burned by the sun. Never had in the whole experience the idea that they had wings, but again I didn't experienced them in a visual way. But if I saw them I am not sure that I want to depict them in a realistic way. Even now I left details out because I have the strong feeling that I am not allowed to give all the details.

If I remember it well, they are mentioned in a Gnostic text also. (The origin of the world? Don't know for sure)

Bible accurate angels are psychedelic crazy. But I also like how people depict that.
Though I really wonder how people today see them when in contact. I doubt that it is the same as in the Bible...

From modern synthesizing Seraphs revolving about the Axis Mundi(Throne of God) that correspond with constellations on the celestial equator, they do appear somewhat differently to outward and inner vision. Qualities from their position along the celestial equator and season.

The stars for the figure of Aquila can appear like a flying serpent. Strong Ancient Egyptian visions.

Also associated with Fire from its seasonal relationship to Solstice(N/S) and Beltane(N)/Samhain(S) complements. 🎃✨

Maybe. I don't know where the scholarship stands on this, but "winged people" appears to be the least-likely representation of Seraphim.

It's not a very popular motif in Western religious art, but the entire Seraphim idea might be better represented as fire-breathing dragons, venomous winged reptiles, or something similar. The Chinese appear to like this idea of a celestial emperor surrounded by dragons.

Marvelous. I heard that the dragons are the most powerful mystical beings, but never thought about connecting them with Seraphim. Makes a lot of sense, actually!

I believe this is what their only "canonical" description implies. You may have seen this already, but Isaiah 6:1-8:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Dragons are definitely cooler, though.

The Catholic Encyclopedia has this to say:

"The name is oftentimes derived from the Hebrew verb saraph ("to consume with fire"), and this etymology is very probable because of its accordance with Isaiah 6:6, where one of the seraphim is represented as carrying celestial fire from the altar to purify the Prophet's lips. Many scholars prefer to derive it from the Hebrew noun saraph, "a fiery and flying serpent", spoken of in Numbers 21:6; Isaiah 14:29, and the brazen image of which stood in the Temple in Isaias's time (2 Kings 18:4); but it is plain that no trace of such serpentine form appears in Isaias's description of the seraphim. Still less probable are the views propounded of late by certain critics and connecting the Biblical seraphim with the Babylonian Sharrapu, a name for Nergal, the fire-god, or with the Egyptian griffins (séréf) which are placed at Beni-Hassan as guardians of graves."

We summoned the spirit of Altai when we arrived in Barnaul, the capital of Altai. This being on the left accompanied us. It was very inspiring and might resemble a Seraphim in some way.
This shot is from a film we were shooting while in the car, driving through the Turchinsky-district, approaching the Zheleznodorozhny-district of Barnaul.

Then, after some time, when we were working in the garden, a strong wind and a strong storm began and it is possible that these creatures were guarding the place where we were at that time, and the storm was somewhere in the background and everything was quiet and calm for us.

you could've pinged me for this. Angel forms of the same class vary by a huge amount. Gabriel doesnt look very humanoid unlike michael, uriel doesnt look very seraphim unlike azrael, raphael, etc. Seraphim refers to the burning ones. This translation came because seraphim have a lot of power compared to the malakhs and cherubs so they appear burning to humans. The stereotypical biblical form of seraphim is a ring of eyes with a few pairs of wings while on fire. Seraphim can use humanoid forms while maintaining the wing setup, however 3 pairs of wings are more indicative of cherubs which can have humanoid bodies with animal heads though even humanoid body is a bit of a stretch here. malakhs can have multiple pairs of wings.

The wings dont make the angel. You can take of wings like a form of limb or convenience organ. its useful when you want to manipulate huge amounts of energy, its just not needed. The wings glowing dont make it special, just means they're using them. They arent for flight but they help move energy.

For a seraphim to take on a humanoid form, its only for combat and convenience of using another weapon. samael was a seraphim and had an angel killing sword. Azrael will sometimes use a humanoid form to use his sword. Granted seraphim dont have the same physical limitations humans imagine of a sword fight.

So i really think you're talking about the cherubim with 3 pairs of wings and some form of humanoid form. The number of wings for isnt really that determined and the shape of the wing itself isnt really common. Some angels wings look more like tendrils with fractals instead.

nudity is no consequence to god or angels. Angels dont even care even if you're smelling bad or in the bathroom either, it doesnt make a difference to them. The act of a cherub covering its body with wings has nothing to do with clothing or nudity. think more of combat or hiding something that would scare anyone away.

they are just decently powerful rather than the most powerful. granted they out power local beings usually. With angels its not the same deal.

There is a link between angels and dragons but not that the seraphim themselves are dragon. Theres a lot of confusion because angels have wings sure, but so do dragons. some dragons like eastern ones are just snake with wings while theres the western ones that dont even tally. Then theres the elements dragons are known for, some water rather than fire.

Yups~ the image of seraphim provided by Morell looks uncannily accurate by my eye, although I was in no way in the position to make it stay still. Flitty little devil it was.
