how about you
You have allot more experience with tarot then I do. Maybe you could start a thread on those topics you want to disuse. I’m certainly interested in the discussionThanks HoldAll , it seems there are threads but not a section , and it seems tarot isn't a big thing here ? I will wait and see if anyone has an interest beyond the 'types of decks ' discussion .
I am into the hermetic aspects ; correspondences , Tarot as a Universal Map , Philosophy of the deck ( Thoth Tarot ) etc ,
All the tarot decks I own are collectible, and sometimes I have to go to pretty extreme lengths to get them. I’m also really into a deck’s philosophy and symbolism. That’s one of the main reasons I prefer collectible decks. They just suit me better than a lot of the mass market options. Are you interested in the symbolism behind each deck too?ive had a number of tarot decks in the past , but right now i use the rider waite smith deck

thanks for replying. i used to have a number of decks thoth, rider waite smith (i still have), golden dawn. im certainly into the symbolism of each decks though i had the thoth deck (i gave it to a friend) i never used it so am limited with my knowledge of it. i took a few years off from magick and am only now getting back into it. very much a beginner again.All the tarot decks I own are collectible, and sometimes I have to go to pretty extreme lengths to get them. good idea i plan on going to an occult shop next weekIf you have a deck that you’ve never used, it doesn’t suit you. If you get the chance, try going to a store that carries a wide range of decks so you can handle them, get a feel for each one, and notice how you respond. Sometimes you’ll even feel “called” to a particular deck too.
I hope to find one day a 'system' or ideas to eork with normal playing cards. I have normal playing cards which gave the feeling of being called, but now I have to find a way to work with.If you have a deck that you’ve never used, it doesn’t suit you. fascinating post firetree thanksSince I am into hermetics I like to use an hermetic deck that has hermetic kabbalah correspondences and shows astrological correspondences . When this is understood the deck can be used in different ways . One is as a 'Universal' Map .
I will lay it out here ;
We have major and minor arcana . The majors are attributed to 3 elements , 7 planets and 12 signs ( 22 cards )
Some ask about the 4th element - earth . Some decks double up here and attribute 'World' / Universe card to Earth ( as well as Saturn ) . I dont see this as necessary as the first 3 elements 'make earth' when put together .
So we can lay the deck out with the three elemental trumps in the middle ( in the shape of a 'tau' ) , this represents the Earth . next the planetary trumps go around that , next a ring of the Zodiac trumps . They can be placed as a 'natural zodiac' or you can lay out your natal zodiac in cards for a variant view on it . Or laid out for the present or any other time .
Next , the minors are laid out, one card for each decan ( 10 degrees ) for each sign in a number progression but with a suit change to suit the element of the sign

Now we have to visualize three dimensions ; imagine the above diagram is an equatorial disc on a sphere , the inner sphere is the surface of the earth , the outer sphere is the Celestial sphere . The 4 aces sit around the south pole ( where energy is + ) the 4 princesses sit around the north pole ( where energy is - ) . ( This makes a toroidal energy flow around the earth's magnetic axis, through the earth and atmosphere *) The other courts rule down from the top ; tropic ( Cancer ), equator , tropic ( Capricorn ) . Their suits rule over areas of longitude ( and countries ) .
This map is a combination of G.D. Tarot lectures and my own insights and innovations .
