Had a carpet for more than 10 years and always did my magick while lying down on that carpet. Eventually the carpet gathered alot of magickal current and now recently I threw it away to be burned, This act of throwing it away feels like I lost a part of my soul but in the end something new will come from this. So I started thinking about magickal equipment that they kinda need to be purged at times from all magickal currents. Especially while working higher energies it's important to get a fresh new start. Will probably go and buy a new big carpet for future magickal operations but that's into the future already. When throwing the carpet away it feels like a burden of myself got thrown away in the process.

What do you think, have you had a piece of magickal eq for too long or?

On a related note, I've wondered myself if something that I've had on my altar a while can be moved from 'sacred to profane' use.

For example, my altar has large LED candles, battery operated. I recently upgraded to ones I found that have a 'flicker' effect and are

much, much better. What to do with the 'old' ones, that been there for a while? Use them elsewhere? Donate? Destroy? Store?

( I do use real candles like for meditation, but for safety reasons those on the altar are not )

Well, this topic did rattle a couple brain cells, I do remember that old Torah scrolls (and anything else with the NAME in it) is put into a

.

Like with a full burial, with as much respect as a human burial. I suppose if you burn something large, like a rug, if you treat it like a cremation?

Then it's shown respect too. Smaller items, I currently will keep stored I guess, maybe I'll have a second altar.

I wouldn't think about it too much. When you need to shed old skin, it has to be done, even if it is unpleasant.

If it is occult active object,t hen it should be discharged or disconnected, but beyond that I see no problem. Would probably do some form of banishing/disconnecting on anything I stop using for occult stuff. (alternatively put it to the box and leave it aside for few years to discharge naturally...)

I wonder about that... I guess it depends on many factors. I had my deck in it's box untouched for four decades and it felt alive when I brought it back out.

Probably best to do something to disconnect it first, before storage. If you know it will never be used again especially.

I think you should have put it on Ebay ;

For sale ; magic carpet - once owned by a magician , reasonable condition ; $3000 .

Almost the exact same thing here. Bought a new carpet last year for my temple room and then just gave it to my parents instead and kept using the old one 😅

Hmmm ... carpet stuff . I comment because for the first time .... maybe ever . I lugged mine outside to the back decking , hot water detergent .... scrub scrub , hose off ..... WOW !

I remember MA teacher had a fav carpet in his dojo (in Okinawa ) . people didnt like it, it moved around and slipped if you were on it in the training room becasue it was very worn out .... that damned old carpet ! So some of the boys chipped in and offered to buy teacher a new one .

'' No thank you ... no new carpet .'' ?

Then one of them was trying to do a difficult kata but the carpet kept moving causing him to mis step or go off balance .... Teacher ; '' Keep trying '' . After a few days , teacher ; '' Very good ... look ! Now he does kata .... carpet no move ! ''

Now you’re gonna make Amur feel bad about the burned carpet. That thing could’ve gotten Amur at least a couple hundred bucks on Ebay.

That would be a way to recycle it ... I don't think throwing things out / burning them is recycling .

You know, that is actually an idea I like. Turning trash into treasure, though I wonder if it would sell for that price. However with proper price it would quite likely find a buyer.

Someone showed me an ebay advert once ' used tarot cards' all around the $10 - $20 mark but one stood out , I think over $110 , old used and battered looking ... why ?

Advert claimed '' Once owned by a witch ! ''
