I've been doing a lot of research lately and was wanting to get everyone's take on old school Solomonic magick vs. The new school approach. The " I demand " method vs. " your my friend " method. I have always gotten good results and learning lessons from working with them. I have never tried the demand approach. It seems like it would be really disrespectful to the daemons i know and work with now. I have two I work with constantly and they feel more like true friends than tools like the Solomonic approach try to make them seem.

A true daemonolater would never evoke a daemon. Invocation is the way and work with the daemons.

I totally agree. I respect the daemons I work with. They take their time to work with me, and the two I work with are more like good friends. I just don't follow the " I camand thee" way of the art.

I think I'd fit the more modern definitions of the term (as if Demonolatry wasn't modern already lol), but I don't like it since I don't actually worship the demons. In the r/DemonolatryPractices they mention "Demonosophy" in the FAQ, which describes me better. I also like "Demonurgy"

Hmmm... I don't think there's a problem with giving commanding if the intention isn't to actually try to constrain and disrespect them, but to exercise your self-sovereignty

The news about Pete Carroll got me thinking about chaos magick again today. I have great memories of sitting in Ray Sherwin's shop in Leeds discussing everything from chaos magick to Odinism, and incense to the ONA.
Very much taken up with my daemonolatry these days though.

The shop was owned by Chris Bray who was instrumental in getting both Ray and Peter's work published. Ray died in 2023 and now Peter - it's like the end of an era. I have no idea where Chris Bray is these days. I miss going to the SA, some religious lunatics burned it down in the 1980s.
