For those who work with spirits…what do you prefer?

Yes I definitely want to avoid the old grimoire purism. I did experiment with it for a little while and my results DECREASED dramatically. So much for dogmatically following the rules.

Another good route is that of Spiritism. Julio Cesar Ody in his book Magister Officiorum has a chapter, the black table of Bune, that can very well be adapted to working with any spirit.

Do you prefer the traditional grimoire/Solomonic route of full evocation OR do you prefer instead the method known as pathworking?

There are a lot more ways of working with spirits. I haven't heard anyone equate pathworking with spirit work before, but okay.

You might want to get hold of a copy of Jaq D. Hawkins' Elemental Spirits for a very different approach.

Considering that Solomonic magic is cultural specific, how do you classify Goetia, Lwa, nature spirits, etc.? Producing results doesn't make them Kabbalistic.
