Belongs in technology section. Not occult related.
As above, does anyone locate planets for magical rituals using iphone apps? I am drawing energy around a building in my city during the daytime and cannot see the stars or planets due to daylight and light pollution
I'm wondering how accurate iphone apps are for the above and which anyone would recommend?
I'm currently using Stellarium.
thanks.

This is a highly practical question that bridges modern technology with traditional esoteric practices.

I can't say whether that app is particularly reliable or not, however, you should be able to find out where they are pulling their data from. There are very few dedicated organizations that are keeping up with astronomical movements in real time. NASA is probably the most widely recognized. Majority of these apps are simply interfaces that pull all of their values from publicly available information from one of these dedicated organizations.

I'd caution against using something that doesn't do that, or uses data from undisclosed sources. It may be inaccurate or worse, outright made up.

If you are just trying to find which way to face to face the planet, a free app like SkyView or something would probably suffice. There maybe better ones out there.

Try it out at night when you can see the planets and see how accurate it is. ime they may be slightly off but fairly accurate.

Any online or offline night sky map can do that, you can open them in web browser, kind of phone is obsolete in considering if you can run a webpage.

I've used the Android version of the app, and it's accurate if well-calibrated. You want to be able to see something, if possible, to know if the phone is showing the image in an accurate orientation. So if you can only see the moon, that's enough to know if the moon is showing up in the right place overall. If it is, then you're good to go. If the moon is in the wrong place, it's because the gyro in your phone doesn't register its orientation correctly - the horizon will also be wrong.

My gyroscope wasn't reliable when I used app, so I just ensured that the coordinates were spot on and then I just paid attention to where is the north and other directions.
