GD hexagram with hygromanteia and picatrix?

What is everyone's perception of using GD hexagram rituals with Hygromanteia and Picatrix prayers, in a more prayer-style (obviously) method rather than directly conjuring a spirit, since I basically have no paraphernalia or tools right now, just my body and voice? So, for Mercury, for example, instead of calling the angel or spirit intelligence directly due to lacking a scrying medium, table, etc. Basically an approach more like asking for intervention rather than direct contact with the spirit.

With the caveat being that I actually have a specific outcome in mind rather than just communion.

There is basically only one requirement for a magick system: Does it yield results?

As for the scrying. If you want a cheap black mirror alternative, Cagliostro's mirror comes to mind (fill a glass with water and put a candle behind it).

Or you can use some other form of divination for simple communication, like geomancy or a pendulum.

I've never been any good at skrying, but I bought a small, highly polished tablet of obsidian, just in case. (less than palm sized, cost me £5)

That's a nice artifact. I've usually used rounded picture frames with the glass covering black paper, or with the glass itself painted.

For protection against astral/celestial spirits you should have no problem using just visualization. As for the hygromanteia I would be careful calling any barbarous names without tools.

Here's my general rule of thumb - visualization works for anything in lighter densities or farther removed from here, infernal and land spirits require physical tools to protect from infestation. Basically the closer it is to the physical the easier it is for them to attach to your body/environment. I would do a chalk or salt circle when conjuring a demon but can safely use a visualized light circle when summoning a planetary/celestial spirit.

Note that Arbatel (Olympic spirits) doesn't require any tools, only a prayer, and it deals with planetary magick.
