What are the best minerals/crystals for constant exposure?

Going to be doing some pendant and bracelet making. Curious the best minerals and crystals to have on at all times. Shungite is currently in first place but haven't done much research yet.

Honestly? Clear quartz. Everyone who talks about crystals agrees that it can be programmed for anything, and when you get into the non-meta physics side of things, the piezoelectric effect in quartz is the most likely candidate to be a material explanation for crystal magic. It also has the benefit of being very common on Earth and therefore cheap and easily accessible in every form you can imagine.

A less common, more expensive and harder to craft with stone is kyanite. My initial source for information on kyanite was The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall, which surprisingly isn't in the library on this website but I've gotten a used copy of for less than $2. In that book, she describes kyanite similarly to how quartz is described in most crystal magic sources, useful for all purposes, particularly balancing energies. I can't realistically recommend it to others because it's much more expensive compared to clear quartz and due to its weird mohs rating (it's got a different hardness depending on if you go against or with the grain) it's hard to craft with, but I bought a 1lb bag of chips to use for crystal grids and a >10lb specimen that's my pride and joy out of my mineral collection so I mention it for completeness.

It's worth mentioning that the colors associated with the chakras are mostly a modern western notion not original to the philosophy the word "chakra" comes from, so the idea of rocks having a connection to chakras based on their color (i.e "green aventurine for the heart") isn't very grounded in historical practices. That being said, some level of the nature of reality is that you impose your Will on it. So as long as you understand you are creating this association through your practice, rather than thinking you are paying homage to some ancients, it's still worthy. I say this in case this is a side hustle you're looking into doing for some extra money, because "chakra bracelets" are very marketable.

Haha! The marketability isn't my first concern but it has definitely crossed my mind. Maybe once I get something I'm happy with personally I can provide for others.

Manly P Halls Secret Teachings of All Ages has a chapter on Stones Minerals and Gems that I've used so far and Quarts seems the most versatile in any respect (look, intention, availability). Birthstones seem too modern/marketed but astrological and pantheon affiliation is more alluring. I'm creating the bracelets out of solid copper wire so the electric/etheric effect is what I'm going for over anything and charging them with intention is a great idea to boost the innate effects within (the stone or the self doesn't seem to differ)

I've also looked at creating synthetic rubies and other crystals from a plasma reaction, aluminum oxide and other powders in a microwave kiln. Can the act of creating the crystals myself charge them further or is that taking the material into my own hands in a negative way?

The various versions or quartz and the 'aura' treated quartzes are all quite versatile. Black tourmaline and crystal obsidian are also quite nice, IMO.

I was having an IRL conversation earlier this week and was recommended Black Tourmaline! I do my own programming on the stones and clean any residual energy from transport and handling so the 'aura treated' isn't needed.

I picked up a book "Pocket Guide to Crystals & Gemstones" by Sirona Knight which is a short, 100 page booklet on the etheric and physical effect of many stone groups. It describes which astrological signs are sensitive to stones and each of the chakras alignment. So far very good book with a good overview of the entire field.

In the research I've done since opening this thread the 'aura treated' crystals are almost always quartz. The crystals are heated up in a vacuum then have metallic shavings introduced at high heat in order to bond with the stone. These metals range from copper to nickel to silver but most are the common metals we run into during our every day lives. Think tech, electric, conductors. The metal shavings are bonded to the crystals not only for the shimmering and colorful effect but also for the charge that is released from the crystal. It can feel different, depending on sensitivity.

Seems to me adding a layer of alternatively conductive material to the top of an already charged crystal would have a genuine affect. Is it better, worse, powerful, weaker? Who's to say unless you try it but I could imagine the affects of the crystal being amplified by the metal and having intention of pairing the crystal with the metal for that purpose. I'm using copper bands so having a double terminated quartz aligning with my blood flow AND using copper or similarly conductive metal may be valuable to the cause.

Would these be similar to those acrylic pyramids with stones in them and different metals? Like the same concept?

I would probably choose black tourmaline for a man because it looks fantastic in jewelry and has that protecting, calming vibe.
I would choose rose quartz for a woman since it's very pretty and usually refers to love and positive energy.-
