This might just be my crazy mind messing with me (as usual)

In a lucid dream I was told to look into a book in front of me and I was told that it was important, the man spoke the word "karshanti" and when I looked in the book it was written there too, I was told to remember the word, then I was woken up

Now you might be wondering at this point why would I even take this seriously, because I'm sure everyone has atleast had one dream like this before

Well here's why:

Since I was a child I'd have these lucid dreams and there was always this weird mind/body sync thing that would happen, this phenomenon seemed to fuel my delusion that these dreams were "really happening"

Lets say I'm being chased by a monster or something, if I get hit in the dream I would get jolted out of the dream and wake up with a slight pain where I was hit. This became so common that I developed a "trick" whilst dreaming to forcefully wake myself up whenever I become aware I'm dreaming. A lot of my dreams are lucid dreams, in fact pretty much all of them are, I don't even do it on purpose, but I don't dream every night (or maybe I do and I just don't remember most of them)

As a child I wanted it to stop, but as you get older, you get less superstitious and you start having less nightmares and more dreams, so it became something fun later on

I think its more like I would feel that pain and my brain would then purposefully sync up me getting hit in the dream (at least that's how I rationalize it, because the alternative theory seems crazy to me)

These kinds of dreams never stopped even in adulthood, but this recent one was more interesting than usual, my dreams are usually very realistic and detailed, the reason why I say my mind is messing with me is because a lot of "trippy" stuff has happened, mind games like this isn't new

0. The whole pain sync thing I talked about earlier, doesn't happen all the time, but it happened a a good few times

TBH its not just pain, its like my "senses" itself get tricked, I once was having a nightmare where scarab beetles were crawling all over my body and I woke up in a panic trying to swat them off of me because I could feel them crawling all over me. I looked around and in my sheets for insects, like roaches or something, there was nothing there, it was all in my head

I've died in a lot of dreams too, good thing it never killed actually killed me lol, but that possibility did worry me, which is why I started doing that whole "jolt" thing to wake up from lucid dreams when things get too close

1. "Inception Dream"
For example I had an "Inception" type of dream years before the movie "Inception" even came out. That's why when the trailer first came out I was excited for the movie, it immediately interested me. I was startled out of a dream once and woke up on my bed in my room, and then after I walked around I started to realize I was still dreaming (usually when that startle/jolt happens and everything goes black I wake up), In that particular dream this happened multiple times, I even randomly ended up in a room with a white corridor, something happened and I got jolted again and woke up on my bed and even then I was still dreaming, I think it happened like 3 or 4 times

It left me paranoid for a few minutes when I had actually woken up this time on my bed lol

This kind of dream only happened once, and this was when I realized my mind was really f**king with me lol, it was like I was being trolled by my own brain

2. "Rerun Dream"
I have "returned" to certain dreams randomly, and once there were even repeat characters there that welcomed me back (my imagination is on steroids lol)

3. "Astral Projection?"
Once I dreamed that I woke up from my bed but my body was still on my bed, and I flew up through my roof and looked around at the surroundings, now I'm pretty sure it was just a dream because some of the details were off, your mind can only show you what you know so it just has to throw stuff together. But still that one felt so real, I felt weightless.

I've had only two dreams like this that I can remember

Back to the dream in question

I was able to actually look at the page of a book and read from it, of course I forgot it all a while after I woke up (like in most dreams), but I made sure not to forget that word (as I was told remember it)

Maybe its just a gibberish word my mind strung together, I don't know, I figure a place like this might be a good place to ask

I did some searching and it seems to be an actual word in sankrit but that language is ridiculous. Meanings seem to be determined by these symbols and their arrangement among other symbols. Subtract one symbol and it changes the meaning of the word and even the sentence (well that's what happened in google translate). So independently the symbols that make up the word "karshanti" (कार्शांति) don't mean anything by themselves

I see it used here in a sentence

कान्ताकटाक्षविशिखा न दहन्ति यस्य
चित्तं न निर्दहति कोपकृशानुतापः ।
कर्षन्ति भूरिविषयाश्च न लोभपाशैः
लोकत्रयं जयति कृत्स्नमिदं स धीरः ॥

Kaantaa kataaksha vishikhaa na dahanti yasya
Chittam na nirdahati kopakrishaanutaapah
Karshanti bhoorivishayaashcha na lobhapaashaih
Lokatrayam jayati kritsnamidam sa dheerah

In google translate कर्षन्ति seems to mean "movement" ("traction" or "working") in Hindi (closest thing to Sanskrit), Nepali and Mayalam

In "Santali" a variation of the word means "to pull" or "to draw"

Just asking for the meaning of a word would not amount to anything so I guess my question may kinda lead nowhere regardless of your knowledge

So I guess I'd like some recommendations of any sanskrit occult writings that have been translated to english that would be of interest

Or maybe you know of this word or the understanding of this word ("movement") with relation to specific religious doctrine or occult group that wrote in sanskrit

Unfortunately, I don't know any Hindi or Sanskrit, but I'm quite interested in this.

I can try and help you out, thought.

As it so happens, in a few weeks I'll be attending a birthday party, and I know for a fact that someone who will also attend has a background in history and anthropology, and while her focus is mainly on Pali and Buddhist literature, I'm sure she has significant exposure to sanskrit as well.

Can you give me a concise, single question (less than 50 words) on what exactly you want to know?
eg. What is the meaning of the sanskrit word "Karshanti" in the context of ________________

No rush, like I said it's in a few weeks, but let me know if you wanna take me up on this.

Thank you, if it isn't too nosy pm when this party is taking place, I doubt something like this would be something you'll remember as everybody has their own life to deal with, and I'd like to be able to remind you

Well assuming you don't already have her contact information, if so it doesn't matter because you can just email her about the topic whenever you want

The date is not set in stone due to covid.

PM me on Oct 3, and I'll give you more details.

I have her phone number saved/have her on social media, but we aren't really properly acquainted and I can be bringing up these topics/ask her something like this outright without doing some social massaging first.

Here's the PM I sent Pestifer, for everyone elses' information:

Here's the notes I took that night and after getting home:
Karshanti - कर्षन्ति

Not a "normal" or "common" word. Valid sanskrit/hindi gramatically but not vocabulary. Could be a combined or made up word. Could be a flawed transliteration or transcription.

Highly contextual. Can refer to any of the following, depending on context:
1. Leadership
2. Farming/ploughing land
3. Pulling someone out of the mud/dirt. Helping them/elevating them
4. Some plan or ideology gaining traction (not sure, only based on below site)

Root word is Krs >> Karshat. Here are some of the many, many possible meanings of combinations based on context:

Now, initially, when I brought up the word, she was confused, and didn't seem to acknowledge it as a real word. After I mentioned/asked about any occult, cult, or religious meanings, she was more receptive/flexible, and told me about that site I have linked, and told me about the root word, and how it can have literally millions of meanings depending on the context and affixes/additions to it. I have listed some of those.

But overall, her general answer is that it is not a traditional/original sanskrit word, and is some later "created" compound word. So the exact meaning is difficult to ascertain.

Keep in mind she is an academic but isn't yet some expert or anything, she's doing a grad programme in pali and budhist history/literature. So take all of this with a grain of salt, of course.

Makes sense that it isn't an original sanskrit word, because I couldn't find anything about it, I even downloaded some old sanskrit dictionaries, some as old as 1899 and I couldn't find the word

Thanks for the help, I guess I'll have to keep looking for information revolving around the root word

Sadly the best site the-eye.eu is currently down after experiencing a hardware failure so I'm going to have to wait till they are back up to look there

Maybe it is a language that's not from here, but beyond. The Universe has so many languages that we don't know. Like the language of Light. Many blessings!

Are you convinced it has to be Sanskrit? I know two Hebrew words that could be (part of) it.
Kaf Resh Shin Nun Aleph gives "illustrious" and appears to be of Persian origin.
Chet Resh Shin Aleph gives "magician".
Not sure if this is of use or only confuses 😄

The dream was really specific

I was told to "look for "karshanti" "

I saw the word "karshanti" in a book (the exact letters)

This is why when I woke up I had no doubt about what I was searching for

You mean you saw the word written in Sanskrit? Or you knew in your dream it was Sanskrit?

I ask cause it's kind of restricting yourself in understanding your dream, if you insist on one old language instead of searching elsewhere. But then, maybe it's enough to seek in Sanskrit for a meaning. The word shanti means 'inner peace', 'inner stillness' and the like. kara can mean 'doing', 'making' or 'the maker', 'the hand', 'the deed'. In Sanskrit vowals often are melted together with the next letter or completely dropped. My knowledge about this is not acadamical, but I played around with Sanskrit a bit when I was into Yoga (long ago).

If I would dream of this word, I would translate it this way as a Sanskrit word: making inner peace. I know quite well, that my dreams don't stick to real grammar. They create words which have a certain meaning to me and which result in certain associations. And they appear in context of the topics I was occupied with in the days before.

So looking at it from another angle, I see the word 'care' in it, and 'car'. shanti can relate to 'chanting', which I associate with 'chantways'. So this might mean for me: Care for your spiritual paths, find your energy and motivation (= car) for them, drive those paths or let yourself feel driven.

A book means knowledge to me. So on the whole this dream would say to me:

There's knowledge you can achieve. Seek for your spiritual path, which is important for you right now. Care for your spirituality, find your way of inner peace and stillness. Sing your own inner song and let yourself be driven by the paths, which open up for you.

Understanding a dream has a lot to do with yourself and your associations with the images, words, feelings, impressions and people you meet in your dream. So connect your associations with your daily experiences around this dream. What do you feel and think, when you hear Sanskrit? Without knowing the meaning of the word: what does it trigger for you? What do you feel when you here it? What do you sense, when you chant it? Do you have visions, trance experience while chanting it loudly or silently? Play around with the word and the few meanings provided here in the thread. Find your own connections and meanings. Understanding a dream is a chantway in itself. ;)

Better perhaps to use the word as a portal. Visualize the word in Sanscrit. Decide it is a portal and step through.

Who do you meet?

shanti means peace
Kar means work

I have studied sanskrit for many years and have a very high level of understanding, I read it every day and have for years the secret is it is a generated langauge you can form your own thoughts as they are ; tradition like latin or french and english is not needed.
