The one thing that I learnt about mirror magic is that its a game of ping pong. Where two arguing practitioners cast malevolent spells at each other... And there is no end in sight. Not to mention that if the other one manages to go around it to counter - attack then it is time wasted.
I like the idea of using mirrors in my practice but I generally would rather use magic to dismantle hostile energies. Than keep something around me continuously going.
I searched a few times on mirror magic but all I've got from google was "Mirror magic, how to return to sender" I'll keep the search going but does anyone know of a particular way of using mirrors where it doesn't bounce ill intentions back and forward.

I have seen it referenced a couple of times. Poke Runyon covered it, there is a nifty tutorial for it here on WF and
back from my hoarding days i have seen three or four more times someone write about it.
And they are all completely different.
Like, i didn't even hear that malevolent spell slinging was what they did with it so far.
Most often they use it for some sort of divination, or to speak to the supernatural which is how Runyon does it,
but he claims that it should be a triangular onyx or volcanic glass.
Bardon mentioned them but in a more psychological sense, something about self reflection. black
i also like the idea of mirror work been thinking about maybe using them.. so far i am merely keeping
one mirror on the table next to me and letting it "charge" or whatever for if or when i do decide to do something with it.
One, if some sort of method is worked out to link two or more mirrors there are interesting options at hand. it certainly falls
under sympathetic magick but i like to laugh at the idea that you could simply use it as a walkie talkie, no bills no evidence no spying
if that actually worked the government would go nuts, instead you might use it to project rituals like the lesser pentagram
to reach places where you are not, or if you had companions you might decide a regular time to perform the same rituals
at the same time - my logic, moronic as it is, states that either creates a group ritual, or it goes inverse and supercharges everyone individually
Two there are some psychological phenomena going on when staring at your reflection in the mirror, keep the room is a little dark
personally this is the way to get the most tangible results with it, it is useful for trance and meditation work, but
I imagine it could get spooky real quick. the bloody Mary x 3 type of thing.
Candle flames are a great addition works really well, and opens up room for experimentation
this is what im probably going to try with it.
Three you can use it as a servitor housing or other things by adding seals and/or sigils
Particularly the sigils and glamours should go together nicely
sort of like affirmations,.......or you could just draw the sigils on your body but hey, it's an option.
I am currently on the drawing board about using it as a sort of gateway..
you might take 4 mirrors and dedicate each to an element with the appropriate symbols and/or
additional tinkering. Pretty overkill for a temple, but who knows?
There is certainly enough about reflections and mirrors in the grand consciousness piled over the centuries
that energy workings/divinations i read about felt like they are not approaching their full potential.
Nah, there has to be more about them but it's reserved for private collections and inner circles

Now that i think about it, facing two/four mirrors at eachother and taking place in between them
should be trippy, certainly if you add a candle in there somewhere.

The (mundane..) function of a mirror is to reflect, so obviously that is what is built on in Magick. If you don't want to send back anything then don't use a mirror.
Since thinking or pondering is also called reflecting (maybe because the surface of a pond reflects?) this is another Magickal function of a mirror. I personally prefer a normal mirror with a seal on it instead of a black one. The immediate trick it plays on your eyes turns it into
and as you then see the seal on your (reflected / subconscious) image it works to link yourself with the intended spirit without having to walk around with doodles on your face afterwards.
@Yazata
so would you consider it viable then to instead of "ping pong" -ing the energies at someone or something we direct them at ourselves?
i just got this thought as i wrote my post? This is purely an example but like...
a middle pillar sort of work that you then direct at one or multiple mirrors and just soak it all in like a heretical lizard?

Sounds pretty relaxing, I used to do this quite a few times and almost instantly I could feel myself go into a trance. I've seen a few scary images while looking at the mirror. I have never really experimented with mirrors a part from just staring at myself. lol

I know there's many different ways of protecting oneself and others than mirror magick.
I just recently read a blog about trapping energies, such as leaving the mirror outside to capture the moonlight and then adding a sigil to cleanse for whatever purposes. If that's a possibility then perhaps I could wait for a Saturday and the hour of Saturn. And charge the mirror to trap unwanted energies.
