I've been watching some of @The God-King's TikToks recently (honestly the only tiktoks I watch by desire) and he talks a lot about the books he owns.

So, TGK, would you be so kind as to share with us what physical books you own, and any interesting stories/things you have to say about them/how you got them?

Same for anyone else who owns actual physical books.

If we're talking about specifically occult books, I own just a few physical books so far. The Exorcist's Handbook by Josephine McCarthy, Initiation Into Hermetics, the Fairy Bible, and Herbs n' Things. I'll definitely buy more at some point, but right now my focus has been less on reading theory/instruction, and more on actually practicing some stuff. The problem I also often have when it comes to hard copies of occult books, is only being able to read them when nobody else is in the room. Otherwise people are always just like, "Whatcha reading?" Then I'm in trouble if I don't come up with something fast. I suppose this won't be a problem once I cease to live with a bunch of judgemental normies I gotta constantly hide shit from.

When it comes to books in general, though, I own so many dozens of them that I've run out of bookshelf space. Some are in boxes, which I really need to take care of and get onto floating shelves or something. Most of my books are fiction, lots of fantasy books. But I've also got some YA and sci-fi/historical novels, manga and nonfiction. Particularly any subject that I've ever been obsessed with, I'll have a book or two about it. Hard copies of books are just...easier for me to read than ebooks, for some reason. Being able to physically touch it and flip the page is a different experience. And I find it more convenient to not have to screw with stuff like zooming in on PDFs that cram too much on one page.

I'm not able to read as much at once like I used to, because the restlessness really hits hard. But there will be periods where I've got both the time and the inclination to read, often during the winter when more in that "cozy" state of mind. There have also been books or series I come across that just get super fucking addictive, and it's like I'm snorting the book in one sitting or some shit. The Shades of Magic series was the most recent case with that, and I'm fucking sad now because I finished it already. However, the author has announced that she's working on a new trilogy for the same universe, so they can absolutely shut up and take my money when the first book comes out.

Amazing, I knew you'd have some cool books, and also figured you'd have so many ebooks that it would be impossible to share them all with us haha.

Good stuff!

That is what I call, a fascinating library list. I also have a few books....

Healing with Light frequencies..
The Art of Dreaming (great book)
Ascension
Light worker's guide to Astral Realm.
The Fourth Agreement.
I don't want to be an Empath anymore. (This book is very interesting)
There are more, but for now I'll leave you all with this list.

I prefer having a physical book in my hands, to flip through and open randomly etc.
These are the ones I like:
  • Agrippa's Three Books
  • Agrippa's Fourth Book
  • Crowley's 777
  • The Greek Papyri
  • D.M.K's Modern Magick
  • the Farrar's Eight Sabbats for Witches
  • Banzhaf&Hemmerlein Tarot als Wegbegleiter
  • Judikka Illes Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells
I have a lot more but these are the ones I have had in my hands the most.

Woah, thanks man! If it isn't too much trouble I'd love to know the others as well. Always curious about what physical books people choose to keep. Especially as someone who doesn't currently own any.

Awesome, man, thank you. It's pretty cool to see most of my favorite PDFs are in yours and TGK's neat collections. I hope to get some physical copies at some point too... :)

Oh man I have so many. These days even if I have the physical book, I tend to read PDFs unless I think there is an error in the PDF. I inherited some older books from a friend. I like weird and old stuff, even if it's BS.

  • The 1916 release of The Lesser Key of Solomon (in perfect shape, I rarely touch it)
  • Gleanings of a Mystic (Rosicrucian) by Max Heindel. First edition hard cover published in 1922. Oddly copyrighted by the authors wife.
  • Simplified Scientific Astrology (Rosicrucian) by Max Heindel. First edition hard cover published in 1919.
  • A number of books by Steve Savedow, including Goetic Evocation and The Magicians Workbook. What's great about Goetic Evocation is that it includes the authors experiments and results. Not just someone preaching at you, but including their actual attempts and what happened.
  • Some Llewellyn books, such as Uncle Bucky's Big Blue Book (who hasn't owned this at least one point in their lives?) and some Cunningham books
  • The Ancient book of Formulas (Subtitle: The most complete book covering the Occult and Mystic Sciences ever published in the English language). Published by Dorene Publishing Co in 1967. Picked it up at an antique mall for like $1. Fun stuff like recipes for incense, "occult ink", etc.
  • Mystery of the Long Lost 8th, 9th and 10th Books of Moses (together with the legend that was of Moses and 44 secret keys to universal power) by Henri Gamache. Third printing from 1967. Excellent condition except the cover has come unglued from the actual pages. No damage, tho. I think the glue just finally stopped sticking.
  • The Complete Edition of the 6th and 7th Books of Moses or Moses' Magical Spirit-Art. There's no publish date, author or publisher in the book, but I'm gonna guess based on the style and how the book was made it's probably from the 1960's.
  • Lots of Crowley - The Holy Books, Magick in Theory and Practice (1976 version), The Book of Thoth (no publish date) etc etc
  • Zohar - The Book of Splendor - Basic Readings from the Kabbalah edited by Gershom Scholem (10th printing, 1978)
  • The History of Magic by Eliphas Levi. 1973 version.
  • Black and White Magic - Attributed to Marie Laveau. No author, publisher or year, although there is a forward signed "Bivins N.P.D.". My guess is it's also from the 1960's or 1970's. Picked this up at an antique mall for like $1.
  • The Rite of Adoption - The authorized standard ritual of the Order of the Eastern Star, Queen of the South and Matron's Administrative Degree by Robert Macoy. Some of these tiles are ridiculously long-winded! Small hardcover, published in 1896 and in near perfect condition. Picked it up at an antique mall without knowing anything about this order. The book looked Freemasonry related, which is why I grabbed it, and it did turn out to be related (

    ). Very heavily Bible oriented.
  • The Warlock's Book by Peter Haining 1972 "Secrets of black magic from the ancient grimoires" is the subtitle.
  • Lots of Grimoire reprints, such as The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, Mathers translation from 1975.

Lots of other good stuff. Antique stores/malls are great for finding some old books for cheap.

I have a small collection of books that could be tied to the occult. Some are of an initiatic bent (Ornament of Stainless Light, The Golden Dawn) and others are novels with grounding in the occult. Some of my oldest occult books are those by Dion Fortune and William G. Gray. These include:

The Goat Foot God
The Winged Bull
Book of the Dead
The Cosmic Doctrine

Western Inner Workings
The Sangreal Sacrament
Qabalistic Concepts
Sangreal Ceremonies and Rituals
Temple Magic

The Talking Tree

Gray is a really lucid author. I’ve also got books by Julius Evola and Crowley such as:

The Mystery of the Grail
The Hermetic Tradition
The Yoga of Power
The Doctrine of Awakenining

Book 4
Magic Without Tears
