I tend to be an out-there and outrageous neo-Luddite, but sometimes I find myself in the awkward position of cozying up to new technology. Till lately I looked askance at AI. But a gent I often rub elbows with (though, no, not knock boots) pointed out to me the following. A great many problems of this planet are due to our apex-predator and arschloch-invasive species selves. Every worst case scenario has AI maybe eventually biting the hand that wrote its code and plugged it in. If so, we might be in for some long overdue competition and, dare one imagine, culling comeuppance. Commentez, si vous il plait.

A.I. was designed as technological advancement. Technological advancements are often designed to "make something easier". In this case, outsource repetitive processes to artificial intelligence. Why, is that important? Because now companies can fire redundant workers to increase their bottom line. The purpose of a company that distributes shares in free market capitalism is to profit the shareholders, thus, this progression is inevitable.

Unless A.I. turns into straight up Skynet and starts killing everyone, I don´t think this trend is not going to end. On contrary, it might actually increase exponentially.

The good news about AI? It´s essentially good news on the surface i.e. by being a "virtual assistant". There might be some regulations down the line, perhaps ironclad in Asimov style, but we´ll see.

This week I suddenly saw an AI in the Google search results, and after a lot of searching (Googling..) found that it can not be removed, unless you had first opted to use it, you can not turn it off. (logic) So after decades of using it daily I switched to another search engine now and will never Google again. Shame.
A month ago or so, suddenly there's an AI in my whatsapp contacts that can't be removed. Have sent significantly fewer messages and am starting to use SMS more and more.
I have never used ChatGPT either and don't see a reason why I ever would.

if you type -ai in your query, you don't see the AI result.
