Marian folk magic

My folk magic is largely a mix of Anglo-Catholic and local folk elements (Welsh saints etc.) so I was thrilled to find The Little Office of Our Lady, Empress of Hell by Rev. Yuri McGlinchey, which includes the Marian Psalter.
I was wondering if anyone here has worked psalm magic with Marian psalms? I'm excited to look into this, as a different way of working the 'usual' psalms.
Diolch, in advance!

I am a bit of a Mary freak but haven't really tried incorporating her into Magick. Some time ago I bought a book because it has a couple of good prayers to the Virgin (the Sworn book of Honorius) and it's really my kind of thing.
There's also my translation of the Ave Maria into Enochian on here which together with the Lord's Prayer in Enochian I pray (say) on my days off.

That sounds beautiful, an Enochian translation! Yeah, after an age ignoring Her, my practice just keeps pulling me here. It's nice to meet a Mary freak 😊My (cthonic) approach uses a Welsh translation of Ave Maria (we have Ein Arglwyddes Penrhys, she has all the characteristics of a black Madonna).
I'm thinking of praying the 150 Marian psalms as a centering/focusing practice during Lent. Also, using Anglican prayer beads for prayer/spell work instead of a full rosary.
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll look up Honorius.

What exactly are you talking about when you say Marian psalter? I typed it in Google and it gave some info about Hail Mary x150 times? I remember something similar but it was called by some other words.

Part of my experiments I sometimes go for the Hail Mary spamming plan, I set a goal number. For the readings I use beads, a set of 50 balls. Almost always in Latin.
The effects feel quite good. It's a very good short one to memorize and read. Great for meditating, gives such a nice energy stack, stacked feeling.

St. Bonaventure apparently wrote or compiled them, the idea is to recite them in order, 1- 150, at least one psalm each day.

Ah yes, I found the thing now. I mixed up this with something else, thought of another practice. This is indeed a good one. Although I can't remember the last time I experimented with these 150, it must have been a decade ago, maybe. Thanks for reminding!

I just wanted to chime in and say it tickles me pink to find other magicians who have found a personal connection to Mary. This is too rare a treat, outside of Mexican Brujeria or Vodou circles.

I was raised a pretty secular Unitarian and didn't intend to become so devoted to her, I had been honoring my hougan, who had passed away few years prior , by saying pretty mechanically , the Our Father and Ave Maria, out of respect for him, and then she decided to take notice and make an appearance. That was shocking. I was not really a "believer", but that is not quite the right word here, and not particularly Christian, let alone Catholic. I decided to go with it and it's been a wonderful experience.

I do love the pslams and have them surprisingly effective but have not combined her with them. For me, her sweetness just make life better, and she is part of my personal theosis as I engage with the Catholic mystical tradition.

Anyway, she can be used to get any unruly daimons to be more pliant, and keep legit demons at bay.

Although not about the psalms, but calling the daimons, see Simon Dyda's Ars' Rosaria' for his Marian framework for Verum:

I've gone through all 150 now and I definitely like these :) It's a great change. Adds some variety, something different. Recently I was thinking that it would be nice if there were more psalms to read and these are great. This is exactly what I was looking for.

The length of each feels perfect, not too short, not too long. I'm not that used to the old English words but it's ok, I'll definitely start experimenting more with these. They do feel great for meditating.

Hi, it's really good to meet you too! I've always loved learning about Vodou and different Diaspora traditions. I have the Ars Rosaria, it fits my cunning work perfectly, and I'm experimenting with that and Celtic 'shield' prayers. Mary is so embedded in my landscape and history, Wales is filled with towns, churches, holy wells etc named for Her. We're a land of medieval saints' names, even if most are forgotten. There's a whole 'celtic' Marianism that rubs along with paganism quite happily. Like you, I wasn't expecting Her to figure in my practice, but here we are!

I love that you're finding these helpful! The energy is (for me) sooo fundamentally different from the biblical psalms, fiercely protective but nurturing. I get a feeling of the Black Madonna from them, too. Earthy, cthonic, infernal, no BS, no judgement.

Yes, the energy is much different compared to the biblical ones. There's a huge difference between them. I have to work with them for a while to get a better understanding. I've mostly worked with the biblical ones.
There's definitely a nurturing effect here.
It seems that the length of all 150 is about 40-45 pages, when I compare it with the biblical psalms, which is perfect for a reading, cycling it over and over again. I have to get it printed out somewhere, soon, I prefer actual books or printed materials over screens :)

Hi, if you Google it you should find it on sale, I belive there's an ebook somewhere too.
You can find links to The Psalms of the Blessed Virgin Mary and there are cheap print copies around.

Not bad. A few additional consultations. As for the Psalms, do they work if I don't believe in the god of the Old Testament? I only believe in Mary and Jesus. I am also making the rosary but I do not know if the Virgin will attend to my requests for justice against my enemies.

They still work. I remember long time ago approaching them with just believing in getting results and they worked great.

Something @Shade just mentioned to me got me to read a bit on the internet, and I found this nice article about 7 different Mary's in the New Testament:

With some creativity and inspiration (and ignoring of "the facts") I think this could be a nice way to link Mary with the 7 days / Planets and the associated correspondences.
