I can't burn candles, incense or sigils because I'm asthmatic. I can't burn anything. I used to, but my symptoms got way worse after being exposed to wildfire smoke. What can I use as effective alternatives to those things?

On behalf of the souls of deceased magic practitioners who beseech me from the underworld, I encourage everyone to use LED candles whenever possible.

I think I'll pick some of those up

Is a bowl of moon water a good substitute for candles and incense?

I am working with olympic spirits (Arbatel) using black mirror, I use only an alcohol lamp (with a few drops of essential oil) inside a glass tube (open at the top) - I change the color of the tube according to the planetary nature. There is no smoke and the scent is much milder. It works.

I think that, if you use a mirror or crystal ball (already having some scrying skill) there is no need for large amounts of smoke (usually used to help the spirit manifest itself "physically").

I know someone who has used color bulbs instead of candles to evoke goetics. It burn out quickly, some on the first use.

According to Stephen Skinner, no.

Incense is a must, and for it to be the proper one is key.

Now, the thing is the smell. What the spirits like is the smell. If you can think of a way to have the same smells without burning Incense, then you could replace it theoretically. Maybe an electric burner? Never have tried it. Or maybe some kind of protective mask for you, since at the end, the odor/perfume is not for you

You can absolutely use a bowl of water. There's a PGM spell called Saucer Divination of Aphrodite--maybe look it up to get some ideas. It involves writing names on a bowl and then saying voces magicae over it.

There's definitely something to the idea of smoke/incense being appealing to spirits, but there are other options and always have been. Candles people did magic without for thousands upon thousands of years-- we're reliant on them (me being no exception) but magic is very possible without them.

I call upon the image less, the voiceless, those who have always been here to answer my calling & come forth I offer up (offerings) to please you & empower you to commune with me. (Then meditate)

Can you elaborate? What happened? Did they ask you to do this or are warning you?

To be perfectly frank, no. I say it that way to emphasize my great sorrow and disappointment at seeing several people die from improper use of candles, or whose children died due to their unattended candles for spells and rituals.

Since other people have already covered candle-substitutes, I'll skip that and focus on incense-substitutes.
Incense is used in rituals to produce 2 things: smoke, and scent.
If you need a cloud of smoke I'd suggest you investigate ultrasonic evaporators/humidifiers - these produce clouds of cold water vapor, and are often used for Halloween 'smoke' effects as an alternative to dry-ice. Some of the bigger & better ones of these can also double as essential oil evaporators - but only for water-soluble oils - like lavender & the citrus family.
For the scent, I'd suggest looking at essential oils - you will have to test each oil to find which ones (if any) cause problems - but you can get oil-evaporators that use electric hot-plates instead of candles, so you can avoid burning anything.
