[Opinion] A bit Irate at the Rules to conversate

So I've just arrived and someone has already offered their library to me and politely asked me to reciprocate. I can't because I can't reply to his PM. Not only that but I can't tell him there is a link to it in my profile either. I think this dictatorial heavy handedness with regards to new members/guests/whatever is somewhat cumbersome and it inhibits the free flow of knowledge and the ability to conversate. So much for sharing ideas. It's no good I tell you!!!
