What nightly routine would you suggest?

What routines have helped you?

If blood magic is involved, what instrument is good to use, and what part of your body is best to obtain it from?

If a specific book is recommended, what book or author do you suggest and why?

Any musical accompaniment?

For an absolute beginner I wouldn't recommend those practices unless your tradition/organization prescribes it for initiation. I would focus on keeping a dream journal, doing nightly pathworkings (and recording the results), learning astral projection, or developing a demanding fitness routine.

Well, I'm not an absolute beginner.

nightly pathworkings

Once again, what book would you recommend regarding this?

learning astral projection

This, however, is something I've had trouble learning.

developing a demanding fitness routine.

Anything you'd recommend? And if you're gonna say Martial Arts, I agree, that is important. But where I live, adult classes are 13+. No thanks. So, that'd be one more thing I'm learning on my own.

I would recommend progressive calisthenics and (if you have access to a gym) weight training. This is assuming you are relatively fit and have a good aerobic base. If you don't then things like walking (rucking), running, cycling, swimming, or rowing will help you develop that. Beyond physical fitness, it develops confidence and mental discipline that carries over to your magical practices or your general life. With strength training you want to focus on your form and a weight you can reasonably reach muscular failure with. In developing an aerobic base you want to watch your heart rate and your breathing. Don't push too hard.

I wrote something on my experiences with astral projection a while back, I could find it for you if that would help. As for what book I would recommend for information on pathworkings, that depends entirely on what tradition you follow. The purpose of pathworking is to a) develop magical skills, b) become more familiar with the symbolic framework you choose to use and form those connections in your psyche, and c) (more esoterically) begin the process of developing your astral body. Someone who follows the Judeo-Christian tradition and calls themselves a person on the left-hand path may work themselves up the 'Tree of Death'. You would start at "Lilith" (the equivalent of Malkuth) and follow the pathways between the qlippothic spheres. Thus pathworking. Kenneth Grant published material on these specific qlippothic pathways in his Typhonian Triologies.

That's a question I'm still trying to answer. Philosophically, I draw from a variety of sources, but mainly from writers like Anton Levay and Asaneth Mason, which are left hand path. I've even come up with my own dichotomy and philosophy around self-preservation.

Regarding which deity I follow, at the moment, I speak to Hermes and Hecate, but Odin tends to be a constant source of information. I have had periodical times where I prayed to, and made incense offerings, to the lords of the left-hand path. But I'm always doubting myself and my ability to interact with them.

As for the Judeo-Christian tradition, I can't say that I get along with the Abrahamic god. His energy is like the way the sun gets at noon during the Summer. It's very wholesome, but imposing, like he's trying to dictate to you how the world is. Unfortunately, I feel like I have to work with him to connect to the other gods. I've explained this in an earlier post, but the reason being that modern occult books feel somewhat cheap and watered down to be "user friendly". So, I go for classic grimoires and have a nice collection of them.

I have a few books on Daoist magic, but haven't done anything with them.

I'm a night owl, not an early bird, so my nightly routine is much of my daily practice. I see no reason to do blood magick at all, and would never be willimg to do it on a nightly basis. I also wouldn't recommend working only with dark or light energy, but to do both.

Basically, i recommend a series of meditations, covering grounding/cleansing/centering, power building, banishing, and shielding. This doesn't have to take more than 15 or 20 minutes, unless you want it too.

I actually wouldn't involve spirits in a daily LHP practice, except maybe to ask them for improved techniques.

As to specific practices, i'd need know more about your goals.

I'm not against this idea, but as said, working with Yahweh is like working under the summer sun. If you can suggest a different source of light energy, I'm happy to hear it.

Wouldn't my goals be similar to everyone else's? Obtaining personal power, increasing personal agency, or proving that there's something out there. If you want something personal, I am autistic, and am sort of using the occult to better understand my nature.

I'm not sure you need to go using blood every night. Blood should be for something out of the everyday.

Donald Webb in, "Energy Magick of the Vampire" has what he calls an "energy inventory" each night. One evokes the powers one works worth in a general way. One focuses on a set of questions dealing with what energized you. His book is available online at several sites. This is a fairly low key working.

Personally, I do a working that calls to mind the one big aim I have in doing magick and reinforces it in awareness. The aim is to have it in mind when I die as a deeply ingrained reflex. (And, yes, hopefully thereafter.) There is a lead in where I call on the body's energy centers (a certain arrangement of chakras), connect with certain stars/planets that have bearing on the centers, and involve a diagram of sigils that represent these. both.

Quite likely my last post. Daddy SkullTraill tells me my a** is banned forever the next time my antics make him take off his belt.

Well, the Sun, and the Violet Flame for a start. In my mind, any version of yahweh is perhaps the least pleasant and helpful light energy there is. A few years ago, I made a weekly routine based off of Ariel Gatoga's Solar light meditation. I can dm it to you.

If you have no idea what to do, mediate. It is useful during day as well as during night. Beyond that it's individual... and that includes music use and taste as well.

Daily blood magic is not recommended. In my experience, if you desire to work blood regularly, do once a month. seems to work well. The wound heals well between the rituals this way. Just think about how your skin would look after some time of drawing a blood every day.

When it comes to books, left hand path itself is very broad. Do you have something specific in mind, like vampires, demons, chaos, draconian... or whatever else?

In a museum in Belgium, I found this night routine of a 19th century beguine: “When going to bed, one reads the evening prayer, followed by a brief study of conscience. One kisses the earth three times and gets undressed with haste. One goes to bed as if carried to the grave.”

My nightly routine is always prayer, sometimes a bit of meditation, and I focus on an astral sigil before entering into my dreams.

I take old Catholic chants and reverse them, add some orchestral accompaniment, and perform my operations in a completely dark environment. It is quite soothing.

glad someone understands the importance of your physical fitness and hygeine as part of honoring thyself. most wannabe "satanists" dont get this important part of putting your money were your mouth. good catch on the fact that without formal instruction in the core fundamentals, it can just blow up in your face in the form of excessive ego inflation, and we all know from economics that things DECREASE in value the more they are inflated.

I know this is an old post but I would like to add something to the conversation. I reccomend a nightly meditation regimine. Start out by practicing focusing on your breath.
Now if you are much more advanced than that. One suggestion I have is, before you lay down to sleep Meditate with your matron or patron if you have you have one. Light some incense associated with said entity. If you are going the Daemonic route I recommend satania's YouTube channel. There are plenty of enn videos there. What males it such a great resource is the only image in the video is the Daemons sigil white on black background.
If you full screen the video turn out the lights and just listen to the video you will be able to easily focus on said sigil. Having a strong meditation regimine will lead to increased focusing capabilities.
I hope this helps.

I see your blood question wasn’t really answered outside of warnings. I use blood magic a lot… it’s a large part of my magic and I definitely have scars from it, however, I don’t do it every night. For blood magic I use a special tool I forged and quenched in an oil with baneful herbs. But before that I used sewing needles. A lot of people use a lancet or lancing device. I personally don’t ever prick my fingers because I need them to be wound free and functional for sculpting and art. If you wanna prick yours that’s fine though. Please never do that thing you see in movies where they take a knife and slice their palm, you will damage your nerves. In fact try not to use a knife because it’s easy to cut to deep with them.

I would disinfect the needle with rubbing alcohol, give it a pass through a flame, let it cool, and then slice with it just enough to break the epidermis and draw blood. As for where I would cut, usually I would use my left arm but I’ve also used my knee. Why my knee you are probably wondering… fair question. It’s because I was injured in the past and I feel minimal pain there. So it’s easy to cut and get blood from whereas my arm is more sensitive and sometimes needs a break if I’ve had to use blood magic back to back.

When you have completed your ritual it’s important to do wound care. Take your rubbing alcohol and scrub your wound. Yes it will sting. After that apply neosporin ointment or something like that and bandage your wound. Because the cut is shallow you should only need the bandage for a day or two. If you need it for longer you probably cut to deep. It’s okay with practice you’ll learn how much pressure is needed when doing it. You should save blood for empowering Sigils, offerings on special occasions, using in place of animal sacrifices (because I don’t hurt animals.), etc… basically don’t over do it or you will attract other things that want to absorb life force or some spirits will try to demand it. Also obviously if you are on blood thinners or have a different medical condition that would make this practice dangerous to you or others please do not do this practice.

I’ll write a blood magic tutorial and share the basics of my personal practice and the reasoning behind everything. 🦇✨
