I've been thinking about something and I'd be interested in hearing from people who actually practice this.
I work with Hekate and Aphrodite in two fairly different ways. One is a more devotional, Orphic approach (hymns, contemplation, the kind of work described by Mastros). The other is more in line with the Greek Magical Papyri, using voces magicae, ritual commands, and the more operational side of ritual magic.
For those of you who practice both, do you experience this as working with the same goddess in different ritual contexts, or as two distinct modes of relating that are better kept separate?
I'm especially curious how Hellenic reconstructionists or reconstructionist-leaning practitioners think about this. Do you avoid mixing the two approaches, or do you see them as compatible expressions of the same religious tradition?
I'm asking out of genuine curiosity and to better understand how other practitioners reconcile these perspectives.
