So, if I were to curse someone, you should understand that it'd be out of self preservation purposes, or in regards to an unjust or unlawful act. As in to say, something that has a practical and negative effect on myself or other people. Not out of sheer spite of hatred.

I wanted to ask this. If I were to curse someone, would that mean the energy would return to me? Or just if it's done out of hate? Is there a way to magically act offensively to someone who poses a threat?

I'm not in the position where I'm needing to do that. I'm asking in preparation.

People don’t typically curse someone because they like them. If you hate them, just own it, so what? The current doesn’t care either way.

Can it blow back on you? Depends on the system and your framework. Some traditions say yes, others say no. What matters most is you. If you’re afraid of it, don’t do it. Magick has a way of holding up a mirror to who we really are behind our intentions. Since you framed your question the way you did, it might help to study curses a bit before diving in, not to memorize recipes, but to understand the mechanics and ethics behind them.

I’ve done curses and had zero blowback. Some hit like lightning; a few fizzled out. The most effective ones I’ve ever done were against currents, not individuals, like cursing the current of anger or malice aimed at me and mine. The people feeding that current still got hit, but my intent stayed clean. It’s a good way to work if you’re worried about guilt or rebound.

In short: if fear is louder than your will, wait. If resolve outweighs hesitation, proceed, make it nasty and complex, and really make it count.
