Good day, In my research I have always avoided affirmations. Mostly because I never wished to be discovered by the family that I am saying affirmations. I also believe in the concept that all magic starts in the mind through imagination and is fuelled by Will and Energy but through a few conversations and light research, I am starting it understand its value.

A twitter spiritualist was advising me in the DMs to do 10 affirmations 25 times per session//3 sessions a day ,Meditate on a 3 of those affirmations. Some videos mentioned that affirmations start programming and shifting the DNA. Other books speak of affirmations changing the subconscious mind ect...

Honestly, I never thought I would consider it again, so I ask anyone who incorporates Affirmations in their magickal practice, please can you describe your discoveries, I would highly appreciate i.t :)

You might want to check out this 'affirmations' thread.

I wonder if those self-help books or social media 'experts' ever address the problem that average untrained persons are not equipped to hold an image or a desired outcome in their mind for more than a couple of seconds without intruding thoughts, are unable to bring the required colossal amounts of willpower unassuaged by any doubt to bear AND are experts in directing energy. Does any of these books ever say that you might get better results when you train your mind, learn how to visualize or work with energy first? Repeating an affirmation a set number of times by rote is not enough, in my opinion, in fact, I'd call it superstition. I freely admit that I'm highly prejudiced when it comes to affirmations. They never worked for me, and that's how I found chaos-style sigil magic which is my go-to method for results magic.

Since I was a kid I looked at affirmation guys the same way as the people in churches that claim to be speaking in tongues but I am interested in understanding the formula related to affirmations because they sparked my interest again.
funny I'm reading up on sigil magick, it seems interesting.

Interesting that you posted this.
A few weeks ago I started thinking about experimenting with affirmations and such again.

The method I like is to combine together a power name + something else.
A power name such as some deity name from a mantra. Preferably one that you have spammed.
Then I add something to it and the process of spam starts. 500x 1000x, maybe daily, for a while.

Also I've managed to get interesting results in the past with the following.
Sometimes I mixed together a power name and cash/gold/something else. Then a day-2-3-7-14 passed and I got the result, often by finding the desired object outside. Strange coincidences happened.
The results were sometimes very accurate. In some cases they happened on the same day.
I don't quite understand why it sometimes works well and then it does not. The process itself is easy, just spam but pulling the rabbits out of the hat can be challenging.

It feels like the power name brings in energy and the energy is released towards the point of your focus. When everything goes right, it gives a manifestation, desired outcome.

I love this, I am currently reading the "Magickian" by Phillip cooper. He speaks to the goal is to get your Will to bypass the conscious mind to change the subconscious mind attract the desired outcome. I think affirmations assist in chipping away at the barrier, and the more and more we do it, the faster we get the result.

in a way it seems to strengthen our will because of the effort. I honestly thought it was a joke. until I was visited by an ex in a dream who tried to have sex with me😑(probably a succubus).in the dream I started to sense my energy reacting, as soon as that happened, I started chanting a protection affirmation and then woke up.

As soon as I'm done my research, I may need to be more serious with this technique.😅

Examples for some affirmations I randomly plucked from the internet:

Every day is full of potential and I am open to new opportunities.
I am exactly where I am meant to be, and heading in the right direction.
Today I am grateful for ___.
Today, I choose to celebrate all the progress I have made to get here.
I am capable of creating the life I dream of.

I was going to write some cynical refutation along the lines of "It could never work for me because my subconscious would never buy it" but then I remembered the chaos magick technique of Random Belief where you arbitrarily adopt some creed or conviction for a time just to expand your horizons. Would I be able to slip deliberately into the mindset described by the disgustingly chirpy affirmations above? In the ordinary course of events, probably no longer than the average person (five minutes or until you hit the next annoying snag of everyday life, like having run out of coffee, whichever comes first). Would I succeed in waking up the next morning all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and pumped to start the new day as opposed to my usual grumpy early-hours self? Peter J. Carroll tells the story of a friend somewhere who decided to become an Evangelical Christian for a time as an exercise in Random Belief until he in fact became an Evangelical Christian - permanently. Such is the Power of Random Belief… allegedly.

The main difficulty I see here is transforming one's emotions and deep-seated personality traits in conformity with such self-motivating affirmations first. If you are convinced that you are a born loser who'll never amount to anything, the above sentences you are paying lip-service to are unlikely to change you and your life in the long run; it would be like papering over the cracks. Ok, that may apply to the average joe but how would a wizard go about it? If I remember correctly, Caroll recommends using a material base for the adopted belief, such as a talisman or ring, something physical to remind you of your new persona. Food for thought indeed… 'manifestations' (how I hate that word!) are another matter but I guess you'd need some additional magic to make such result-oriented affirmations work, pretty words repeated by rote are not going to cut it, in my opinion.

A twitter spiritualist was advising me in the DMs to do 10 affirmations 25 times per session//3 sessions a day ,Meditate on a 3 of those affirmations.
As a young pup, I tried this kind of insane overwork. Ultimately I discovered that the sheer fact of the overwork bolstered psychological dispositions which undermined the "magic" of the affirmation. It all smacked of desperation, the ultimate magic killer (unless that desperation has been channelled into a ritual and then let go - an interesting theme for a thread in its own right).

If you want to change your programming in this way, compose one affirmation and repeat it throughout the day whenever you remember it. Over the course of a few days you'll find yourself repeating it very frequently, at that point, keep the sentiment but change the wording and start the cycle again. Make the affirmation a simple, positive statement ("I am an immortal essence in the body of an animal", "I am a hard worker and I see hidden opportunities", etc.) and work with only one theme until you start seeing changes in your life.

If, instead, these affirmations are about obtaining something concrete, repeating them over and over might help in a small way but it's weak magic. What would be more potent would be saying the right words, once, at the right time. This form of magic is so powerful it's actually legally recognised: "I now pronounce you man and wife", being a good example. If there's something particular you want to obtain, you're better off constructing a ritual and, at the climax, saying what you want, once and with intense concentration. Then let it go. If you do it properly, what you want will come.

exactly, its not my only technique but due to what I experienced,I can see many ways to apply it. one is making a recording of my own voice overlay it with a frequency beneficial to my mission and then extend it to 6hrs of length. then play it every 2 days.(i would say everyday but I also need to allow myself to receive messages from my subconscious/dreams/astral ect 🙂 ).

in Trading we say repetition is the key,Another technique inspired by the muslims with they 5 times a day prayer thing.is to select the affirmation at different times of the day 25 times,(ofcourse including emotions and feelings,as loud as possible the car:LOL:). I believe(lol) affirmations can be a good add on to already robust magickal approach because it will be a reminder of what you 'manifesting'.:)

A late reply, but I started writing it earlier and forgot to post it:

When you are doing magick without involving external entities the primary driving force is your will, or your intent in a more modern language. This isn't will as in "willpower" of early 20th or late 19th century, of "eat your broccoli and have cold showers" kind. Think of the moment when you actually move your hand or stand up type of intent.
So the exact technique you use doesn't really matter, nor does number of repetitions for affirmations, rather what matters is how it fits your overall psyche. For whatever reason you'll find some stuff (potentially affirmations) will work like a charm, while other things will work less effectively or not at all, while the same technique will work for somebody else. So affirming out loud, in front of the mirror, writing them out, whispering them while in hypnagogic state... Try it all out and see what sticks.
You can even experiment with writing out your affirmations only once per session, but with multiple affirmations and including things you are certain will happen (a trick from sigil magick).

I know you didn't ask for book recommendations, but I'll toss in a few anyway:

Advanced Magick for Beginners by Alan Chapman for theory. It's chaos magick, but imho updated to latest observations. The chapter on sigils and arbitrariness of ritual is especially recommended in light of this topic. I highly recommend you do those experiments.

The Sorcerer's Secrets
(these day called Real Sorcery) by Jason Miller is a very nice grab bag of techniques from a bunch of different sources. Chapman is more of a theory and overview guy, with little practical instructions. From Miller you can try a bunch of different things and find what works for you. Avoid his courses, to call them overpriced would be understatement of the century and his books are actually better than his courses.

Six ways by Aidan Wachter - also a nice list of techniques. It's a combo of chaos magick, witchcraft and even a bit of ceremonialism (especially in it's reclaiming rite, which you can also find here and I highly recommend it as an intro practice).

Look at wikihow on how to perform "dhikr." Swap out the names of Allah for your affirmations.

Personally, I take a walk a.m. and p.m. You can do affirmations while walking by yourself.

thank you soo much✊...I love the book recomendations...Update: so far interesting developments have been happening.

i had 2 visitations from succubuses, sex dreams.the first time I managed to avoid it,the second time i found myself having my energy being absorbed,my christian gilfriend prayed for me,(I taught her visualization, some folk will never change, just need to adjust the model and improve it🙂). ever since then things started to shift and managed to have a successful week.but I guess I need to work on more defenses because it literally felt like I was being targeted and rumor is in zulu culture, succubus take your luck away from you.

i've started to notice,I have been recieving more things coming mybway to help me on my journey, videos to help me succeed,a book I have been looking for years finally appeared, now listeninng to binural beats and singing bowls music.I later found out the singing bowls help with changing vibratory states to allow for elevation.its like the affirmations have triggered the change to start occuring.

i'm looking forward to reading the books suggested, the wild part is I came accross a chapter talking about affirmations in the book "the Magickian"-Phillip cooper.I'm so Grateful for your book recommendation.
