African wealth magic real or not?

So were I live (southern part of Africa) there is alot of superstition. Its common for people to consult traditional healers for all kinds of reasons.

Now in the past decade or so it has become popular belief that you can get instant wealth, riches or luck through certain rituals.
These rituals involve going to a practitioner and retrieving your choice of wealth magic items which include, a calabash you talk to, a snake, a gnome like creature and more.
Now these things usually have bad side effects supposedly, the snake would cause lots of deaths in your family, the gnome creature would rape you and anyone close to you, and the calabash container sometimes shortens your own life span.

I want to know if anyone actually knows anything about stuff like this? Is it real or superstition ?

Well, you're asking on a forum for magical practitioners so people here are going to tend to believe in this kind of stuff.

My view, without knowing anything about magical traditions in your part of the world, is that any of these thing can potentially be real, or they can be scams, depending on the quality of the practitioner involved. Also, my experience is that wealth magic can basically make you more lucky in financial matters, but it rarely causes a fortune to fall out of the sky and land in your pocket. You're still working within the basic framework of your situation.

I've lived in southern and West Africa. I know exactly the kind of stuff you're talking about.

Rituals and spells can and do have costs. If you want something from a spirit or an entity, it's not free. They're doing work for you, after all.

As for what the costs end up being, that can vary by a huge amount. AND people will gladly start to attribute unconnected, totally random things as extracting the cost because they expect a cost to be paid anyway. The number of times I've seen people in both places swear they've been cursed, and then just make bad decisions... ugh. The paranoia that the church has put into people about magic clouds their judgement and makes them under-informed. Which makes it easier for charlatans in the church and fake juju men to take advantage of people.

Is it real? Yeah. It's also every bit as real as all those large churches that offer "Prosperity Gospel" poison. lol - prosperity for the preacher, not for you. And they will collect money in exchange for an inflated ego that will one day get them into trouble. Same mechanics.
