my magickal group is full of ceremonial magicians who practice goetia. I came to the point that I dont see the point myself in doing goetia considering the risks that can come about it, even though Id say im with professionals at doing it. Ive only done invoking with archangels but not goetia. So I was wondering, what are alternatives to Goetia, that kinda meet the same purpose of evoking goetic spirits? If there is any. Just curious.

What risks are you referring to specifically? I mean angels can fuck your life up just as badly as demons. It's just demons are sexier with it.

Also, have you voiced your concerns with the others in your group? I mean if they are as experienced as you say, then it would make sense to just work with them though this. I would think you would trust them before trusting randos on the internet (I mean some of us are pretty cool randos by the way). Just a thought.

To answer directly: there isn’t really a “safe version” of working with spirits, demons or otherwise. There are safer methods, better preparation, better boundaries, better discernment, and better ritual hygiene, but no guaranteed safe route. Spirit work has risks, especially to your ego, worldview, assumptions, and sense of control.

If you are unwilling to open your mind to a different frame on demons, fair enough. Try working with Deities. You can work with a Deity and do similar pathwork others are doing with demons. Might be a cool rabbit hole to dive into for you.

There are a ton of spirits you could evoke or summon besides the Goetia. Demons outside of the Goetia aren’t a safer alternative or a risk reduction. It’s the opposite, because you lose established protocols.

If you aren't a fan of calling spirits, you should work with energy magick.

I takes longer to cultivate but once you master it, it's done!

Good question. I love Verum but I really did do everything backwards. There was no internet and I had to figure it out pretty much by myself. Had a couple of good people share tips early on, but in the end nobody can really teach you magic except share the various techniques. There are seals , names and protocols that have spirits that guide, communicate through, and watch over them, but you still have to apply them and learn.

Today I would start with New Thought and learn powerful your very divine imagination is. Find you own inner language an how your are wired. Then find a myths and stories that speak to and enhance them.

I ike Gordon White's very ecumenical language that tapping into a 'power supply' is important.

I like the PGM , Hermeticism, and NeoPlatonism, and Catholic Mysticism. Other might like LHP-y stuff, and others more Jewish Kabbalah.

If you vibe " celestial"add in the talismans from the Key of Solomon which call in a general class of beings. Good stuff.

To add to the energy angle, I have found the energy from a candle is plenty. Hoodoo / Brujerua / Folk magic candle magic combines very well with New Thought and any external power source - angels, demons, god and goddesses, many misc holy books, etc. (Just don't call your own amazing and wonderful synthesis "Hoodoo" or "Brujeria," which have documented histories in their cultures.)

FYI: for a very good intro to New Thought intro, this is the book where it all "clicked" for me.
