Agreed, Mystic_friend. Both are captured 80+%, but in see-sawing ratios.
Many of us in the USA here figure this out, and will alternately pit one against the other, D&D Neutral Good style:
(Except for the 33% of people who are have easily hypnotized brains, the True Believers who fall for nonsense political word salads , and who become the shock troops for their respective side's "thought leaders.")
In the original Star Trek series 'Wolf in the Fold' written by Robert Bloch (author of 'Psycho') the crew of the Enterprise has to fight against an disembodied entity that posses people to kill others. This entity once appeared on Earth as Jack the Ripper.
It's the perfect metaphor for US political parties: imagine there's a floating bob of psychopathic evil that switches back and forth between both parties. So even a party starts out as Lawful Good it will become increasingly Lawful Evil over time , maybe even Chaotic Evil. As soon as it becomes popular by dint of media coverage and people liking winners, the blob of evil moves to posses it more and more.
During the Bush administration the evil fully posses the Republican party to wage the Iraq War and attack our civil liberties. It was a legitimate strategy then to vote for Obama. Obama the candidate was very different than Obama the president. Eventually he and Dems were also fully possesed, so in time we got increasingly evil foreign policy, and eventually Hillary Clinton trying to spark WW III by pushing during the 2016 presidential debates to shoot down Russian planes in Syria that were bombing terrorists (what she euphemistically kept calling a "No Fly Zone").
Now Trump's foreign policy appears to be taken over by pint-sized NeoCon Mark Rubio to attack Venezuela. All we can do is vote against them the next time, and the cycle of possesion, of psychopath-ization, is reset for a bit and starts all over again.
