In David Griffin's book The Ritual Magick Manual he talks about something he considers to be one of the most important precursors to any magickal working, which he calls "An invocation of the Highest Divine Force"
This made sense to me when I read it, that you would want to preceede any work by invoking "The All/God/Source" right because you're then effectively doing the work "AS GOD" which undoubtedly (in theory) should have a potent effect on the power/effectiveness of your Magick.
I took this principle of his and formulated my own opening invocation, which is Kabbalistic and vaguely reminiscent of the middle pillar.
invoking first the lunar sphere of consciousness or the subconscious mind (yesod)
Second invoking the solar sphere of consciousness (tipharet) along with the power and strength of our Daemon/HGA
Lastly invoking the Divine sphere of consciousness in Kether.
I invoke them by vibrating the same corresponding Divine Names of the spheres as in the middle pillar 3-5 times each.
Yesod=Shadai El Chai
Tipharet=YHWH Eloah Va Daath
Kether=Ehieh
My thought was to start from bottom and work up so that when you invoke Source/God/The All in Kether youre doing it after having just invoked your Daemon/HGA (who has the power and authority to invoke The All unlike your ego).
I found this has added a massive boost to all my rituals.
Does anyone else begin their ritual practice with an opening invocation? If so what do you do and how has it influenced your Magick?
Just realized I probably should have posted this in Q&A instead. Not sure how to move it, maybe a mod can help out?
