The fae are the center of my practice, although I'm not sure if I'm dealing with the same 'fae' as most people in the occult world, since my fairies are not the particularly impish tricksters that others often talk about. My fairies/elves, as indicated by the fact that they are beings that generally move and operate as collectivities, are fundamentally ecological beings. They recognize their being as woven out of relationship and their life is the dance of inter-being. There are 'hierarchies' of fairies representing different strata of reality, all woven of beings, from what we might think of as the more fundamental fabric of reality to the various local manifestations, particular homes, rivers, etc. Note for example, the fairy of a given tree is not the spirit of that tree as we would generally think of it (a self-contained consciousness which inhabits the tree), but rather is to be found throughout the environs of the tree, in the conditions that tree creates as well as the conditions that allow for the thriving of the tree.
