Aurum Solis (ala Denning and Phillips) helps

Hi everyone! As someone who finds the GD rituals a bit problematic (I know, I know) I've been digging into some of the old Aurum Solis materials and have found that I'm really interested in incorporating some of their material into my practice. I've already adapted some of it into my LRP but am thinking of just using the AS Calyx and pentagram rituals outright.
Are there any good explanatory sources, videos, blogs, or really anything that you know of for further help on these? For example last night I had a time just finding out what a particular gesture meant. It was referenced in ritual in Mysteria Magicka but I couldn't find the explanation.

I did find adocentyn.net which helped me with the Cervus gesture but reading their description of the Setting of the Wards only created more questions.

Hello, I have experience with the system, although I no longer practice it.

It's its own system, it isn't the GD by another name. There are very real differences, not just on the surface, so I recommend doing one or the other and not trying to mix them.

If you read D&P very carefully, and follow step-by-step, you should be able to work it out. However, if you get stuck, let me know what I can do to help.

Also, if you decide to stick with this path, I recommend making your Tessera ASAP. See p.261 of Myseria Magica for a description, although don't worry about consecrating it until much later. Just having it on your bomos (or whatever you are using for an altar) while doing the rituals will be enough for now.

This is a powerful current, and if you approach it with sincerity and vigor, you will experience very powerful magic. The tradeoff is that because it's egregoric, it can feel a bit invasive.

It's a tough call. I'd originally bought the set of Dennings and Phillips books years ago but they seemed over my head at the time. There's much I appreciate about the GD but I have the same issues that many have with the Christianity bits. I'll do my research and may reach back out. Oddly enough what got me to open the AS books back up was a Foolish Fish video where he mentioned them. The GD method of invoking and banishing pentagrams has longed seemed to me to be... well, "off" somehow and I'm sure there are probably blinds tucked into a lot that's available.

As for the egregore, that's good to know. Funny enough, hope this isn't offending you, but I consider the christian god to be an egregore or more likely a collection of them.

If only there were OAS or GD bodies nearby where I could actually meet and discuss with practitioners. Ah the joys of life in the deep south. I can find a root worker, even a few witches but man... go looking for a magus and you're outta luck.
