[Help] Automerge confabulation

I am used to having a section where technical in house operation questions can be asked . Is there an area for that ?

I have had trouble tacking some posts due to this , tack on feature that puts all of one's posts together and doesnt 'bump' an addition to the top of the list or even show a new post as a new post in the index . Also a new post , 'slips in ' between your last and any 'likes' - which really confused me until I realized what was going on .

If a poster is making a new post as time goes on and it isnt being bumped to the top of the index , how do I tell ? I suppose there is some type of 'allow notification ' of that setting ?

another issue with it ;

if I get asked a question and need to answer it later and come back and do .... my answer can appear pages back on the index . It looks like I haven't returned and answer the question , nor know if others have done the same .

Not used to this method at all .

The whole purpose of the automerge is to prevent the thread from being bumped. Yes, that means if someone is posting multiple times in a row you won’t be notified of it and will miss some information. It’s a trade off we make to prevent people bumping threads with little to no additional useful information and then wasting everyone’s attention.

If you care so deeply about a thread then post in it yourself so their next post bumps it, or manually keep checking the thread.

This is somewhat of an edge case. It’s not often that valuable information is missed for over 24h due to automerge.

Beyond this question the rest of your post is incomprehensible to me, sorry.

Yes, that means if someone is posting multiple times in a row you won’t be notified of it and will miss some information. It’s a trade off we make to prevent people bumping threads with little to no additional useful information and then wasting everyone’s attention.

Sorry for the annoyance of me having a 'blind spot' re; 'website help' section . 'Trade off' ... okay, I get it .

If you care so deeply about a thread then post in it yourself so their next post bumps it, or manually keep checking the thread.
