Baneful magic, and justice where the law can't reach

I personally know a very kind man with a horribly violent nephew, who has threatened him and his mother, and is ducking the law on drug charges. If he goes away, he might find a bad day with someone already in there, from what I was told. The law is kind of deadlocked, and he has got off with a technicality before.
Is this a good case for baneful magic? The visitors are not religious nor use any kind of magic that I know of.
Or, should I stay out of it?

Idk, is it? That's not up to us but up to you. YOU are the magician and YOUR Will be done. Do you feel its a justifiable situation where magic can be employed?
