Being Magickal: A 300-Page Roadmap for Spiritual Awakening and Metaphysical Practice - Lori Wayfair

Hello everyone. I’m reaching out today as a proud husband to share a project that has been the singular focus of our household for over a year now. My wife Lori has spent the last 14 months conducting an intensive synthesis of global folklore and alchemical correspondences to produce a series of definitive reference guides.

I am sharing her foundational work, Being Magickal. This book contains no illustrations—it is 300 pages of pure information regarding the mechanics of the work. It was compiled during a period of intense physical enclosure, as she has been battling six bulging discs and a rare seizure disorder that has kept her bedridden for over a year. She chose to transmute that physical agony into this directory.

Lori is a truly extraordinary individual whose path to Gnosis has been forged in both fire and spirit. She has possessed the ability to see through dimensions since birth—she actually retains the clear memory of the moment she was born and the angels communicating with her as she entered this vessel. She has spent her life communicating with higher-dimensional beings and has frequently been taken to various realms in spirit to receive direct downloads from the Source.

Her earthly journey has been just as intense. She was emancipated at age 17 after surviving years of homelessness as a teenager due to severe issues with her parents. She has come a very long way and this book is the distillation of that survival.

The manuscript covers a broad spectrum of metaphysical tools:

- Spiritual Foundations:
An introduction to various hidden traditions and ancient belief systems.

- Neural Calibration: Practical exercises to develop intuition, energy work, and psychic abilities.

- Botanical and Mineral Magick: Comprehensive guides for working with Crystals, Herbs, and Natural Elements.

- Ritual Mechanics:
Insights into divination, manifestation rituals, and spells for positive change.

- The Sentinel Link: Protocols for connecting with spirit guides and higher consciousness.

I believe that the information she has synthesized here could be deeply helpful for the practitioners here. It serves as a roadmap for those looking to reclaim their internal alignment.

I’ve moved this thread to the articles section because it does not contain a MEGA link to a PDF download, and therefore does not follow the rules of the Book Shares section.

In the future, please consult with me before advertising paid products.

Oh I am so sorry, I did read the rules various times I must have missed it somehow. I will definitely let you know if I do a post like this again. It really isn't intended to be promotion I just truly wanted to share my wife's story and I really think the things she writes about could be beneficial.

She needs an editor. Can't critique the content as I haven't bought the book but only looked at the sample. I'm sure your wife is a wonderful person but it doesn't appear that she actually knows how to write. If I spent twenty dollars to see "oil's" used for plural the plural of oil, I'd be pretty pissed off and would be unable to take the author seriously — as would anyone who is literate and interested in this area of study.

The reason I allowed this thread, also the reason why I’d normally say “come on, cut them some slack” is because I want to encourage and promote people to create more occult literature and content… but, I didn’t read it, and I have to say you’re right.

For someone writing their first book, it may not be financially feasible to hire an editor, and it would generally be acceptable to release a book like this and later look into getting an editor when it makes sense financially.

But that being said, OP, you and your wife need to understand that when people are charged $20 for a book, they are not going to be sympathetic to the plights of a first time author. $20 is a price that proper publishers charge for polished books (at least ebooks - though you don’t provide that option). And sure, you can do what you want and charge what you like, if you encounter great success then good for you… but I agree with the poster above. Buyers deserve more polish at this price range.

But I don’t know much about selling physical books so I’ll leave you be. However to prospective buyers, read the sample first.

It's your first book, so I won't kick you in the ass. First time is an experiment.
  • An introduction to different magickal traditions and spiritual beliefs
  • Practical exercises to develop intuition and psychic abilities
  • Techniques for energy work, meditation, and visualization
  • Guidance on working with crystals, herbs, and natural elements
  • Insights into divination methods
  • Rituals and spells for positive change and manifestation
  • Ways to connect with spirit guides and higher consciousness
  1. Each of those topics deserves their own book... and you can get book on each with 200-300 pages range, that goes deep into topic with understanding and quality. Putting them all in 150 pages is impossible if your goal is teaching. This book can barely be a testament to your wife's experiences. It can barely list what all she did. I've read the part about magic, very Christian. Love the Star-Wars comparison, but the Force is rather a description of god than Magic. Ask people here how they define magic or look around, there is threat about it, you'll find some really thoughtful answers. Also light and dark is barely Christian and not really deep understanding of types of magic.
  2. 14 months is barely enough to get through the complete beginners phase of study and path into occult. What I see here is common sign, you find something, practice it for short time and you want to immediately share and show how great you are. Your wife Lori is on the way, but Barely over 1 year of practice doesn't make a good occultist or a which. Maybe for theory, if she read at least 20 good books during that time, but to develop real occult strength takes some real time. and some real practice with facing pitfalls like boredom and failure You'll see if she lasts for 10 years. Occult evolution is slow, just like tree growth.
  3. Stylistics of the book sucks. Despite the legends above here, you CAN get cheap or free editor. You can do it yourself too. The Fanfiction communities have dozens of tutorials on how to write and how to make the book look really high quality. Do not set for barely standart or just have it done. I self-publish myself and the look of my books and only pros were pointing out errors in my books. Some obvious stupid mistakes: In list of content you have the name of chapter and then number of chapter. NUMBER FIRST, NAME SECOND! Also would be good to have there page number, but that is not necessary. The main text of the book should be sorted in BLOCK, not to the left. In the name of the chapter, NAME OF THE CHAPTER IS DOMINANT, not it's number. Also having it written in word instead of a number doesn't look pro. That all from what I saw. Good start, but do your best to make next one way better. Looks sell. Also not sure if the cover is AI, but keep in mind, just in case, that using AI for illustrations is easy way to anger people. There are many artists that are willing to go cheap, or you can illustrate yourself. I do art myself for my books.

This is in my opinion...this is a book not exactly of real value for someone who seeks quality magic book. But it is first. We all start somewhere.

My final advice:
You and your wife especially are welcome to join the community and the library. A lot of impressive practitioners here, some with truly many years of experience. Definitely a place where you both can find some real value for your practice and maybe in time for a book that will even advanced occultists seek out.

Hey, I've only written one book too! 😁

To be serious, though, OP, did you read through it looking for grammar/style errors and the like? Just having a second pair of eyes on a piece of writing can catch a whole bunch of mistakes. The others are right - the minute you ask people to spend money on something, it leads them to expect a certain standard.

Yeah. I remember tutorial for those who have to check grammar themselves:
  1. Write the text
  2. put it aside for at least 3 months so you can completely forget the content
  3. Re-read, you'll se the mistakes, both grammatical and logical that you wouldn't notice immediately.
Tried and true!

BTW, I don't know if it is a mistake or if the OP lied about the book length, but this is not 300 pages long book. Not even by far.
