anyone have any great book recommendation on how to properly navigate the psyche and establish healthy psychonautica exploration?

Couple of my favorite reads have been The Antipodes of the Mind by Benny Shanon which is a phenomenological study of the ayahuasca experience. Very academic.
LSD and the Mind of the Universe is a documentation of the author's very deep and decades long high dose journeys.
The Way of the Psychonaut by Grof is a classic that gets into holotropic frameworks, probably a good fit for what you are looking for.
I think with any of these its most healthy to have a firmer spiritual grounding in something pragmatic and detached like Buddhist thought. One of Crowley's brief moments of true wisdom is in his statement "by doing certain things, certain results will follow. Whether they are real or not is immaterial." Its very easy to walk off into the darkness without some sort of grounding.
