Seeking Recommendation Books that were "worth it" ?

I often see discussions about rites, spells, or workings in well known occult books (I.e. the Picatrix, the golden dawn, the PGM etc.) But I don't really see the breakdowns of books in their entirety and how digestible their elements are (which may be a lack of research on the books on my part)

I'm not wondering what books are for beginners per say, but I wanted to ask what books that you've worked with long term that you've enjoyed the results of? And what books are worth the work in your eyes?

I think finding a book that is digestible is a great approach. Of course what books work for you depends on what your interests are and what path you choose for yourself. when I was searching for my path I bought a lot books written well known esoteric/occult authors. I read a lot of different approaches to the occult. For me personally, I have found some of the more recent authors have a style that is easier for me to digest than some of the original source material.

For example, when decided that I wanted to learn Hermetic Cabala I ended up buying two copies of the original Golden Dawn material. But it was when my mentor recommended “Paths of Wisdom“ by Greer that was published in 2017 that the GD material really came alive for me. While I do not consider myself a GD practitioner the knowledge I acquired back then has been invaluable on my current path.

personally, I have some grimiore’s, but i have realized that, while they are informative, they are someone else’s path. My journals and magical notebooks are starting to look like my own grimoire, my own magical path. Of course they are not as complete or in depth as the works of more accomplished authors and magicians. But because I lIved them they make perfect sense to me.

Still regarding myself a beginner I have found "High Magick" by Damien Echols good and accessible, and some of the Gallery of Magick books, if you don't want too much background information but want to get to it.
