Candle Magic🕯️

Hi y'all!🌿

I wanted to post on here to keep track of the knowledge I accumulate. I am mostly drawn to candle magic and have learned some things. This is super basic but since I'm growing my craft, its a good place for me to start.

White Candle- ** can be used in place of any color if you set your intention. Associated with Purification.
Black Candle- Banishing, Protection, Shadow work
Red Candle- Passion, Strength, Vitality, Health
Pink Candle- Self-love, Harmony, Friendship
Green Candle- Abundance, Fertility, Growth
Blue Candle- Peace, communication, Healing
Purple Candle- Wisdom, Intuition, Power
Yellow Candle- Confidence, Success, Joy, Intelligence
Orange Candle- Creativity, Energy,

Flame Reading-

Tall and Steady- The spell is strong and your energy is at work.
Dancing/Flickering- Energy is present and forces are at play
Weak/Struggling- Resistance. If so you might want to revisit the intention.
Popping/Crackling- Communication from spirits/ deities
Suddenly Extinguishing- Interference. Perhaps your goal is best achieved via another method or should be revisited.

~This is an accumulation of knowledge I have received from other witches online and books. I want to jot them here and track my progress. Any feedback and experiences are welcome. I also want to note that overall, what I know is that your intention is what matters most to the spirits. Mediation is a good way to hone those feelings and effectively communicate your desires to the spirits.

Hi, maybe I can help you a little. I don't know if I can comment here, since it's just your notes on what you're learning. How the wax behaves also indicates degrees of success or failure. Without wind, of course, the candle wax can run, forming an ugly mass at the base, and the body of the candle can warp on its own. I've even seen a straight candle start to form an S shape. Finally, I don't know if it's as common in other countries, but here in Brazil we also have brown candles and a distinction between dark blue and light blue candles.

Regarding intention, it really matters, but so does your effort. Therefore, it's to be expected that someone who only "wishes" will have less success than someone who has performed a complex ritual. Your effort is a sign of your strong intention. If your intention is weak, you won't perform the complex ritual and will instead continue on with your life, merely fantasizing in your head. This effort, time spent, and dedication can also be interpreted as a kind of "energy" given to the spirit. Furthermore, one thing I learned in "Brazilian Voodoo" is that dedicating yourself to an entity or egregore will give it permission to impact your life. It's the difference between a "Christian" who never reads the Bible, never prays, and never follows the teachings of someone who does all of these things. It's also the difference between someone accompanied by an "Exu Catiço" (deceased guide) who does nothing to work with their entity and someone who goes to a "terreiro" (type of temple), lights a candle, leaves an offering, etc.

Anyway, I understand English fluently, but I use Google Translate to help me write, so if it sounds weird, I apologize.

I have a basic question as a total newbie. I have done a few very basic candle rituals. I definitely attempt to listen to my instincts and intentions, but I'm never sure what's appropriate in terms of ending the candle ritual.

Is it best to:

A - Continue to concentrate and focus intentions until the candle completely burns out on its own. (This can be tricky with larger prayer candles that can burn for days if you let them).

B - Stop the ritual when you feel it best to stop and let the candle burn until it goes out on its own.

C - Stop the ritual when you feel its best to stop and gently put out the candle when you feel its best to do so?

D - Is there a standard or more magical way to end the ritual?

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Better start a new thread in Occult Q&A, hardly one reads replies in Tutorials.

Hi! Welcome, I hope you find a way to sharpen craft that feels right to you. I've also had this issue. One of my first rituals, I had to just sit there in my salt circle for about two hours. I just listened to music and thought about my wishes. I would lean towards C, I have seen people also use birthday candles to shorten their time. Though sometimes I also use bigger candles and more items for bigger spells. Let me know if you find some more concrete information.
