Cleaning yourself: does it have to be a bath? can it be a shower?

Is it possible to do Goetia work, or Psalms and incantations from Swarts using a shower instead of a bath? if you can use a shower how do you do it?

Stephen Skinner would say you should absolutely not. 😁 Since you are asking the wrong question. You are really over thinking this. Just stay clean if the protocol requires it.

what is the right question?

If you want to stick to the goetia and solomomic paradigm you should focus more on fasting and not having sex. And staying "spiritually clean"

So IMO you should focus more on how to stay "spiritually clean" to get God on your side vs the demons when doing the ritual

I don't do solomonic magic anymore but that's the traditional method.

Jacobus Swart does Psalm magic and Kabbalah based magic and says part of spiritual cleansing is to bathe and recite prayers before any ritual
... when you did Goetia what worked best for you?

Yeah thats good traditional advice.

For me, sleep deprivation actually worked well and had a strong effect

interesting
How much sleep deprivation?

All nighter sometimes. And +24 hours of sleep deprivation. So for example, stay up all night and all of the next day and then do a ritual the following evening when you are truly exhausted.

Its controversial advice and obviously don't do it if you have a health condition.

Think of this

I am sure you can work out how to have a hyssop bath . But a hyssop shower is a bit more difficult ;)

However in Abramelin the issue is cleansing with pure water only so a shower is able to do that job (better I would say ) - just make sure when you step out its on to pure linen , use a pure linen towel and approach the shower as a ritual object . . . and the showering . Its noit an everyday shower - at the time the ritual was written , having a bath everyday would be rare .

You could somehow make the showering different from 'everyday shower' to 'bed that in' .

or ... just find a more practical way to 'contact your angel ' (or is it that you want to 'control spirits ' ? )

There are recipes calling not only for a cleansing bath but also for certain bath additives (I believe hyssop is traditional). We even have this book in our Library called Crossroads Mamas’ 105 Spiritual Baths for Every Occasion by Denise Alvarado & Madrina Angelique. I imagine the idea is to soak in the bath, with the skin absorbing the additive. I guess the effect would not be so pronounced when just taking a shower and rubbing the additive onto your body.

I make my own soap bars (because I watched Fight Club..) with hyssop, white sage and laurel among other things. Cleans well on all levels. There are tutorials in YouTube for the basic procedure, it's not that hard. You just have to be careful the first time(s) when you mess around with the proportions and the adding of the lye.
