I have no issue with those who use the witch as an archetypal symbol for their Work. In fact it's partly the reduction of that traditional symbol to a safe, purchasable aesthetic that makes much of this so egregious. The same can be said of those who use the symbol of the vampire for attention, those who use the Magus (or, indeed, dead astronomers) as an exercise in expressing shallow thoughts in an affectedly unclear way, etc., etc.

Those capable of apprehending quality know the difference between the conscious use of a symbol to communicate multifaceted dispositions and LARPing. Those who are not capable, I don't engage with.
Contrasting oneself to sweeping generalizations(they're all that way) is a psychological response worthy of investigation.
