Creating your own religion

When I was young and foolish, I fancied the idea of creating my own religion, but then I matured and realized that I didn't want to have anything to do with other humans. With people, there always come various problems and unpredictable situations. However, the idea of 'my' religion didn't leave me. So, I ended up inventing certain rituals and began carrying them out in combination with prayers to the Moon, the Sun, the Earth, certain planets, stars, and constellations, without naming any specific spirits or gods. And things started to happen. In that sense, there is a certain pattern. So I can say that 'my' magical religion is an invention for my personal and completely individual use and devotion, without involving other people.
Completely agree with that. You have to go your own path and create your own magic. One only needs to understand the fundamentals and then one can go on by himself based on that.
I also wouldn't want to get involved with other humans through a religion, it feels silly already just thinking about it. There is nothing to worship, nothing to gather around. The only way I could make my own religion is if I wanted to abuse gullible cult-members. Which I don't.

You can create a sect, but you cannot create a religion. If we talk about a personal belief system, then everyone has it to one degree or another.

To create a religion is easy...just say that your religion brings wealth and you will be the king of this planet. Gold is the true God here.

If gold did not buy large quantities of food would that metal have any value besides maybe studying it?

I think what drives people is surviving and getting enough to eat. The reason love for money might occur is because even if someone has enough they might still be in a survival state of mind.

Not too long ago people were hunters and gatherers. When your a hunter/gatherer food goes bad and you always have to acquire more. Now there is so much food always produced but our brains haven't fully caught up to that. That there is way more food produced now.

I don't think gold drives us but what we can buy with it does. Money is a concept. Its not actually real. People still need food, water, and shelter at the end of the day.

Curious to see if anyone here has a religion they created themselves or otherwise heavily altered what is "traditional" to fit themselves. Did you discover a deity, for instance? I've asked this in other forums and gotten some interesting answers from people, say, worshipping river spirits and giving them or receiving personal names for them.

For me, I usually just call myself Wiccan, but I feel as if some of my experiences and what I choose to call the Wiccan God and Goddess are very personal to me and not something I share with anyone else. I don't really relate to the gods and goddesses usually ascribed to them.
Does creating something that encompasses what I think the LHP ought to be count?

Considering the existence of the Temple of Set and other self-admittedly LHP esoteric groups, yeah I think it counts.

It takes one to form a cult. It takes two to form a religion.
And three to form a Secret Society.

Yes. Yes I have/am. However, I'm going full Scientology and registering the f*** out of some trademarks. Nothing organized, though. More like connected solely by virtue of employing the original practice(s).

Unless some 3 letter agencies get involved and everything goes shit. Then I'm organizing a cookie and grape Flav-R-Aid social. (Black and white Nike's suggested but not mandatory.)
