Curious, how did you figure out who you should work with?

I know some people have a spirit or deity that just calls to them, but when that hasn't happened to you yet. Where do you begin to see who maybe is willing to work with you spiritually?

This is how I figured my path out and felt mysteriously called to the practices.

It was strange for me. I think it was 2005, somebody showed me a Quran in a language I could not read. I felt something from it but could not really understand what was happening. Then I started reading random spiritual books and at the same time felt a strong pull towards sufi and monastic practices, also saint work. I could not really describe it, it just kept coming over and over again. There were also strange dreams.
At some point I got the books and started working. Some of these books were at home in random boxes but I never knew we had them, there were lots of random books, piles and boxes. Mostly boring random books.
Felt like I had found exactly what I was looking for. Also grimoires came around that time. Immediately felt connected to everything, not sure how or why but it happened very fast. The saint work too, it was interesting from the first moment.

The overall situation contributed towards it too. Dire situation, several people with cancer around me, and my own personality. Introverted and with very limited interests, main being spirituality. The methods I started using came out of nowhere, I felt some strange guidance through intuition. Then lots of trial and error.

The earliest spiritual "conquest" days I had to stay at home all the time, just in case because the people with cancer could cause a mess. I was just studying random books, Osho, Castaneda, whatever I could find. By the time they passed away, I was doing rituals all the time with everything.

This felt like that for me, being called. I suppose if it's different then you could attempt to experiment and aim for something. See if you get a response. Show some dedication, devotion.

These systems, in general, why I don't know. Then some saints too. I kept seeing them in dreams and I couldn't understand what was going on.

These systems, egregores, whatever they are, I wish I could understand why all that happened. I have a lot of Russian Orthodox ancestors, maybe it has something to do with all that but it doesn't explain the attraction to sufism, nobody like that in the family. It's a mystery.

It is very easy for some people and not so much for others. Guess it is related to past life relations with that path. In my case I have been working with differente systems and I have learned a lot, but still looking for the one that "clicks just right". I may never find it and in this life it was my fate to learn all I could from a lot of currents.

I never thought I'd bother with a patron deity or such, but now, after visiting the temples in Egypt, I find myself wondering what it would be like to have Thoth as a kind of 'focus'. I mean, he's the deity of (among other things) science and magic!

I am from Mexico and I always noticed a lot of Roman God statues all over Mexico, so when I discovered Greek Qabbalah, Neo Platonism I immediatly felt in love with it, and that is what I practice, we have a strong mediterranean culture in Mexico so I think is cultural for me.

I've worked with a ton of entities, and haven't clicked 100% with any of them. Lots of entities who "called to me" had bad intentions, and didn't work out at all. So I haven't really figured out who I should work with, and i'm not sure everyone should have a patron type relationship, though that would seem to be normal. As for a where to begin, you can write a "letter to the universe", charge it with energy, and burn it.

I am not settled nor ever truly will be, that one I learned already. It is not disrespectful to give yourself room to walk your own path with whoever you feel like, and allowing spirits (including Infernals) to pass by or linger.
ㅤI had a patron once (an attempt before I came to the conclusion I'm not meant to be bound to anyone and they respect it), who was Abaddon. Years passed and I realised I didn't truly needed it, yet I still have his sigil on me, because it was a very intense and significant part of my life, but having a patron seemed to be an unnecessary expectation from myself rather than the Infernal's.

In most cases I was called by them in the right time, right moment, and only when my intuition told me this is a call I must welcome here and now, I went with the flow, and regret nothing.
ㅤHowever, I did not rush anything, nor stepped forward towards anyone blindly, just because a 'higher authority called me', if I didn't feel like it; I was ghosting King Paimon for years, turned my back to Azazel and still ignoring Asmodeus' attempts for over a decade by now.

Being self-aware of your life situation, your personal development and stage of life (whether it is spiritual or the material) can help you making a judgement over a call of whether to answer it or ignore, or to make one by yourself, but above all, my intuition was always the main shotcaller and it never failed me. If anything, it explained more to me when I listened to it than my limited consciousness managed to process beforehand.

Where do you begin to see who maybe is willing to work with you spiritually?

You can hit up a certain group of spirits (Goetia, e.g.) you feel drawn and scroll through them. I'd focus on their name over 'visuals', as it tells often more than how they representet on their images. Note the names you feel this attraction towars, and start reading of them. Try to separate your intuition and gut feeling from your ego's desires, because that can often mislead you; although no turns are truly wrong, they are, at best, educational, I'd say.
