Hello, i'm new to all of this, and there are alot of things i dont understand and i have no one to talk to about things.

But i think i might have had a vision?
I was meditating and a foggy flash of a map appeard in my mind.. i couldn't see the whole map at once, but i could "walk" through the fog and the map shifted going upwards.
I think it means i'm supposed to go on a journey of some sort, either metaphorically or physically.
Maybe a mental or emotinal journey?
Please help and thanks in advance

Alright I’ve got about 1 min, so here’s my short answer:

During your practice there will be times where you will see/hear/experience things, my advise write them ALL down in every DETAIL you can remember. Then do a second divination style and see if the two results correspond. Then just continue on with your practice without rejecting or embracing the event. And then see what comes of it. That’s how you build both experience and discernment in a practical way without turning your life upside down for what could be a moment of overactive imagination.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I've had visions that came to pass, and plenty that were plausible and then things changed and didn't happen.

Our experience of time is probabilistic in nature. No path is set in stone until after it's happened. Maybe you were daydreaming because you weren't concentrating hard enough, which is what you should be doing in meditation. Maybe the metaphor makes sense to only you. Maybe you had a vision of seeing a map in a room filled with stage smoke. If it's unclear, keep meditating on it and see what else you get. But, be willing to accept that it might have not meant much at all. Clinging to a vision is the only way to do it wrong.

I disagree with Cartae who stated that you get to decide if it was a vision. This is not the right way for your conscious mind to relate to the material that comes up from your subconscious (or to basically any other part of your experience for that matter). The more honest, accurate way is to practice discernment. Basically you need to learn how your mind works and recognize the way things bubble up from different parts of your mind, and also learn to understand what it is communicating. Certainly you saw something, so that can be called a 'vision' of sorts. The question is where that vision was coming from. Was it coming from a place of deep truth and wisdom inside of you? Was it something that some part of your brain was pondering? Maybe it contains elements of wishful thinking. Or maybe it was just a brain fart.

We can't tell you which of these it was. Only you can know that. And maybe right now you don't know, in which case you have to accept that the situation is a little murky. If you can stay with the phenomena and keep checking in with yourself honestly, it will usually become clearer. More importantly, if you keep up your practice, including a practice of discernment, over time you will get better at recognizing the different levels of your mind and the ways they show up.
