[Help] Divination with deities

I bought new pendulum for Hekate and Ares, but i am kinda worried of asking and not contacting them. I have used pendulum divination with an element, I asked God and Maria to help bring spirits to me to work with, and the earth elemental confirmed he answered because I called on him in the name of God and Maria. But I can't exactly ask the Greek Gods to answer in the name of the Christian God. So of course I know I should do the usual routine with the hymns and prayers, but i though maybe someone else had more experience with this and I wanted to ask for advices

I have been working with Hermes for months now, mainly asking for general advice or messages thru 3 card daily tarot draws. I relate to him as a person, an autonomous intelligence, while I'm doing the draws and am always thankful for the info I get.

I'm not a Hellenic recon, don't have an altar, say hymns, make offerings apart from my sincere thanks because I'm just not a fan of tradition/exoteric stuff that much and find it inauthentic, personally.

In fact, outside of tarot draws or informal chats, in the "cold light of the day", I don't even know if I'm talking to Hermes, another entity, myself, or something else entirely. My take is that if Hermes exists he'd understand all this and appreciate my sincerity/honesty/genuine gratitude. And if he doesn't exist (or it's someone else), it's not the end of the world as I tend focus on the usefulness of the results/advice for the readings, primarily.

So my approach is basically to work in an animist framework and build genuine, authentic (as I define it) relationships. I've no idea if that is what anyone else should do but I wish you luck with the pendulum and your attempts to contact with Hekate and Ares.
