Not the kind who relies on gadgets, the kind who uses real magick.

You’d go to haunted places and work your magick on site. A lot of the time, things happen so fast you won’t even have time to cast a circle or start a full ritual before something kicks off. But you’d learn something from every location. Would you take a job like that? Why?

That’s like my dream job. I’m technically apart of a business that does that but I haven’t been called upon yet. Most people who have inquired just want me to bend free will so they can make money. Which is not what I do. I’m an apprentice.

I recommend reading psychic detective by Colin Wilson if you can find a copy.

No.

There's no money in it.

What you did wouldn’t have any lasting effects. I guess repeat business would help the first point some.

Most places wouldn’t have anything of note happening and you’d probably end up putting on a bit of theatre for your supper. Which isn’t without merit if it makes people feel better but not what you signed up for.

And then to turn it into steady income you’d be putting on even more dramatic performances hoping for clicks/likes/sales.

So it would either start off as a con or end up feeling a lot like one.

Who wouldn't want to be Ghostbusters?

No money? Well, a second job / hobby career then. Or be independently wealthy (I'm not) or retired (I am).

I'd keep all the gadgets tho, for disguise. Let them think it's that stuff doing the job. Less things to explain.

Part of Shamanism IS theater. The placebo effect is real, do the real Magick kinda low-key like a stage magician.

I'd for sure be part of a team, not solo. Learn on-the-job. .... Who you gonna call ??? Who you gonna call ???

I don’t think you’re fully familiar with this kind of work, so let me explain a bit. It pays a lot of money, six figures, and you typically only need 1-2 gigs a month, not a standard 9-5, five days a week. And by 1-2 gigs, I mean you’re only working one or two days a month.

If your work doesn’t create lasting effects, or you can’t complete it within a day, you won’t get called up. People hire you because they’ve already paid for amateurs and theatrical performances, and now they’re willing to pay for something that actually works. That said, you don’t take advantage of that by charging an outrageous amount.

And I already mentioned this isn’t gadget investigating, so no theatrical performances. You don’t go back to a location twice. You go only once, you handle it, and the results last. If it takes a second visit, one will already know that place needs some more work before coming and they will go with another one.

This kind of work is definitely overshadowed by mainstream ghost hunting, which is unfortunate. People also assume it doesn’t pay well, and that’s a shame.

I’m curious, what makes this your dream job? It’s dangerous. Are you drawn to it because you want to help people, learn the history of these places, or test how strong your magick is?

Mostly help people. Also a reason to use my magick and see how strong it is and come up with new ways to use my magick.

The concept of this idea came to my mind many times. I'd be focused on exploring abandoned, haunted places and help the stuck souls get free or identify and understand the entity favouring the location, the reason of it, it's nature and attempt to communicate.

Now that I think about it, technically speaking, my whole life was about this, except that I was not 'intentionally' visiting places for the purpose, but instead, either bumped into them, or has been asked to help out.

Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with my Community Manager job. The spectral folks won't pay my bills, and the ones here live in my house rent free.
