[Help] Does the size of your candle matter?

Or how big your tools are in general. How big your offerings are, how big your crystals are, etcetera. because a lot of these grimoires don't have actual quantities listed like "one pound of gold" or "two bird feathers".

I use a birthday candle for a spell. I like it because I can get a variety of colors at once, it's less of a fire risk and I am ADHD as hell, and the spell is done in 20 minutes. I buy the good expensive stuff too like the beeswax ones that burn cleanly. Then I use a pinch of herbs or resin for each spell. Everything I am burning can probably fit in the palm of my hands. I often burn the stuff too in a small cauldron and there is only so much I can burn before risking the fire alarm going off.

Is this sufficient, or is there a tendency where the more burn time or more herbs, the more powerful the spell?

Is there something I am missing out on by not going bigger? I focus more on moon phases and timing, or harnessing energy through pain or exercise. Perhaps it's not the size of the candle but how you use it?

Honestly your approach is perfectly fine for your work. Some spells require a 7 day candle, but again if you're not doing that spell, then you don't gotta use a big candle!

Can you do a 7-day spell with 7 birthday candles? It doesn't have to be one large pillar candle that you snuff out each time, does it? I can't imagine people burning a 7-day candle overnight or while at work these days, maybe back in the old days it was possible if you're like a vestal virgin at a temple keeping up an eternal flame?

Candles put energy into a spell while they burn. It's not so much the technical size, as the time spent burning, and the amount of energy you need to get the result you want. You can do divination to get an idea of how much you need. Obviously larger candles usually burn longer, but you can achieve the same thing with most spells by using multiple smaller candles, just enchant them all with the same intention, and light the next one from the last. With multiple smaller candles it can get to be a bit more effort if you are dressing them extensively with herbs and oils, but doing them all in one batch can help with that.
