Recently, I’ve been feeling like its blocking me from tapping into the state i need to do good workings, but it was completely the opposite when I was younger. I’m not blaming it completely, and I’m not sure I subscribe to the idea that you can never do good workings while under the influence. But I am interested in people’s thoughts/experiences, even if they are subjective!
I would say that it's not the plant, but the person. If you use it the correct way for the correct things, it can help. If you use it the wrong way for the wrong things, it can hurt. Basically, like everything. Some people use more than others because everybody has a different body and reaction. Personally, I keep my daily practices sober, since I want them to be strictly training my own will. However, in some workings or divinations, I use it. I find it can also help with dreams, visualization, and deep meditations (besides the regular practice, I wouldn't recommend using it in every single meditation).
Keep in mind that an extra level of discernment must be applied in any working/meditation when one is on cannabis. Usually, one must already discern what is their own mind vs. a spirit. Now, one must discern, "Was it my own mind, a spirit, or was I just high as fuck?" Personally, I haven't gotten "high as fuck" when doing anything magickal. When I use it, I prefer a micro or medium dosage.
I don't find this to be a simple black or white answer. It all depends on you and your practice.
I have used it a tiny bit and nothing good came from it, just clouded the mind. There were only a couple of cases where I saw visions on it. Some people I knew smoked it a lot and considered themselves to be "very spiritual", they were the opposite, just zombies.
In my experience it makes me lethargic, thus it is not a good influence for praticing.
But I discovered that it boosts my creativity leading up to my practice. So I consume it sometimes in periods where no "higher brainfunctions" are needed.
I also use it when I write my journal. It helps me focus in just one thing and for some reason it improves my handwriting and edurance.
The type of weed e.g. indica or sativa also plays a gigantic part in the experienced effects.
But generally I would not recommend it, because the risk of addiction and other side effects.
The truth is that I have never tried to do this with weed, but I have tried with cognac. During a hypnosis session for example.
In fact, there are several factors that can influence hypnosis, in the sense that when you want to achieve positive results and you want to bring the person into a state of hypnosis, the effect of brandy/cognac amplifies and helps to bring the person into an effective state of hypnosis.
But before that, it helps that the person to be hypnotized reaches a state of slight exhaustion through some physical activities during the day, for example some work done in the yard or around the house.
When evening falls, if the weather is good and the sky is starry, after the subject reaches a slight state of exhaustion and for example has had a light dinner, the effect of two glasses of cognac before starting the hypnosis ritual - is a very strong one, helping the subject to become more receptive to the voice of the one inducing hypnosis.
So if we were to replace weed with brandy, brandy definitely works.
But I don't see why it wouldn't work with weed. Although I've never tried it.
About 4 or 5 years ago I smoked something called hhc, it was legally sold in the EU. I bought a bit of it to try it out. It was called like 45% or 60%, not sure. This thing was way too strong. I microdosed it and it completely screwed my mind for about 4 or 5 hours. There were weird thoughts, the whole system got destabilized. A rather weird experience. It was much crazier than normal weed. Too strong, too weird.
The effects just kept going and going for hours. A weird dull feeling. Then some friend of mine tried another whatever thcx... thcv or thcp and had no idea it was about 1000 times stronger.
I just wanted to try it out, I kind of dislike weed anyway and these weird other versions. Perhaps once a year or 2 years sure but not more. For experimentation.

I wanted to see whether I could get visions like in the past. Since in the past I had a couple of interesting experiences on it. After meditating for a while I saw the future ahead, a little bit, some random events. This did not happen with the hhc.

Nowadays there are many weird different ones being sold all over. Thc and add another random letter. They can be way too strong, crazy and wild. Since the EU laws are kind of silly, they have to get around by selling something else until it goes illegal, and then another whatever appears. Kind of silly laws, just let people smoke who really want it, your choice what you want to do.

Those things were not just hindering the practice but completely screwing up everything. The day of smoking and something felt weird after 24 hours too.

I can't remember 100% what was the thing which gave visions, it happened somehow together with meditations, perhaps it was just normal strong weed years before these experiments. I don't think it was hhc... although sometimes I am not sure, weird stuff has been going around for quite a while. They could sell you anything. Somebody said weed is being mixed with fentanyl as well. Damn bastards are just selling poison.
I have been practicing with the amount and dosage matters much. Both in memory and quality of certain elements. This is done with THC-A variant. All other variants mess too hard with memory and make me feel bad so it's absolutely recommended to know thyself and thy drug. I smoke very little so it's not overwhelming, but an aid. I don't want to be in the ocean, but want my feet in.
During internal visualizations and visual work it can absolutely amplify the quality and feeling. As in the "sharpness" of visual intensity, the forms/costumes themselves, and the feeling projected outward to attempt inducing the feeling.
During ritual itself it triggers certain feelings of "home" and sometimes intense feelings of nostalgia without object (as in no reference to a memory, but place/state).
I don't do it every day and I do rituals every day.
I partake occasionally. Maybe every so often just to enhance a video game or a intricate meal. I also love to read while under its influence due to its ability to immerse me and make me imagine the story better. But never have I ever attempted to enhance my practice with it.
For me, substances of any kind remain recreational unless they are psychedelic or required for the practice. I occasionally use damiana or egyptian blue water lily to enhance my practice. But never weed.
I will never rely on that sort of thing because then i wont know what to do without it. Practicing completely sober is usually better because it builds more discipline.
