In Faustiana Goetica: A Collection of Related Obscure Sixteenth-Eighteenth Century Germanic Grimoire Texts, Steve Savedow expands the corpus of important texts by bringing together obscure sixteenth-eighteenth century German grimoires, making them available together in English for the first time. The material includes Herpentil's Black Magic, Epitome of Supernatural Magic, Magia Ordinis, Almuchabosa: Compendium of Supernatural Black Magic, Tuba Veneris, and Grimorium Mercurium.
The texts presented in this volume each provide a basic, 'no nonsense', uncomplicated system of spirit evocation or 'Goetica', that can be described and categorized as being in the nature of [Faustian] German talismanic 'Black Books' of magic. These books include specific material on using talismans and incantations to perform acts of spirit evocation, the acquisition of money or gold/treasure, skrying by the use of a glass of water, and some interesting techniques of necromancy including how to get news from the dead.
Including a foreword by Alexander Cummins, reference material from nineteenth century German magazines and books, dozens of illustrations, spirit lists, comprehensive details of the texts and much more, Faustiana Goetica is a treasure trove which reveals a significant area of development in the grimoire tradition.
