Is there a way to permanently mute a sub-forum?

Say one does not wish to be alerted for Controversy ?

I've tried using filters, it just does not seem to match my needs.

Yes, I can choose to not engage with such new threads, but the titles of threads are not always a reliable indication.

The location of a thread is not displayed when at 'What's New'.

Thank you for your time.

Sorry, I was not being clear. I'm not talking about alerts.

I'm talking about seeing a new thread in 'What's new' and going down an unwanted rabbit hole.

The location of such thread (whatever the name) is not shown.

I'd like to preemptively make sure threads from a sub-forum is not there, because the sub-forum it's in is muted.
