I'm familiar with things like protection, or cursing, but I have not discovered the "formula" for wealth magic yet. Regardless of origin, almost all forms of baneful magic follow similar procedures and mechanics. The same for "grand" ritual invocations. But I have not observed or performed enough wealth magic to glean these things in regards to it. Is it as simple as creating the opening for wealth to come in and evoking favorable energies? Or are there ways to guide the opening of these opportunities?

Apologies for the open-endedness of the question; I assume those who practice it all have their different ways of doing wealth magic.

I think that most people's approach to this topic is in some way wrong. Many misjudge their, let's put it this way, "karmic capacities" for possessing material things. Acquiring material wealth through magical means unnecessarily burdens a human being. I felt this deeply and rejected any kind of magical working with the aim of some kind of material gain. Instead, I adopted an attitude that helped me attract only as much money or business opportunities as I needed to avoid falling into material difficulties. If I were to attract too much wealth, then it would drag me into worrying about it, or it would push me towards spending. In any case, it would divert my energy away from the only meaningful goal in life, which is working on perfecting my own being. So, instead of specific magical spells and rituals, I find it more useful to apply the approach of gaining the general favor of the Wheel of fortune.

Neither my area of expertise nor of endeavour but what struck me most about what I've read so far, e.g. Jason Miller's "Financial Sorcery: Magical Strategies to Create Real and Lasting Wealth" or the three Damon Brand money books (and tons of others in our Library), is how drastically wealth magic tends to change its users themselves, unlike throwing a curse where you (hopefully) remain unaffected by any repercussions.

If you're aiming for serious long-term prosperity, any effective wealth magic will probably turn your life upside down because you'll need to create avenues for various income streams on a purely mundane level (this isn't 'windfall' magic where you find a bill on the street now and then or receive an occasional unexpected tax rebate). Kiss your nights spent in front of the TV goodbye, forget about your beloved band practice or any other time-consuming hobbies because you might need those hours for night school or business administration and accounting home-study. Other items on your wealth-building agenda may include a more conservative haircut, more stylish shoes and a more expensive wardrobe to impress your credit officer, for example.

You can never get really rich as an employee (unless you're already near the top rungs of the corporate ladder), so you might want to establish your own company or become self-employed. And as the saying goes: "As an employee, you have one boss - if you're self-employed, you have dozens, i.e. your customers/clients". And it's true. I used to be self-employed, too; I've worked on New Year's Eves, at Christmas, missed parties, shows and other exciting events, hardly ever went on vacation because that would have meant losing money and potentially clients, all of it taking it's toll on my relationships, my health and my peace of mind. And all the time I was merely getting by… it's just not worth it, least of all when your business fails and you're saddled with debts for decades.

I think this is one of the kinds of magic where magic serves to amplify an already existing ambition and turns it into an all-consuming obsession. That's what I've learned from my chaos-style sigil magic operations - no matter what or whom you're trying to affect, you can't avoid becoming affected as well. You become involved in the process you've initiated, like it or not. That's why I'm now loathe to use results magic except in emergencies and gravitate more and more into the direction of theurgy these days. Let's see how it goes.

I've posted about this before as the majority of my magic is in this realm and I've been able to retire at 33 because of my success with it. Here's what I've learned.

If I were to write it out in a a simple formula.

1.) Address karmic issues surrounding money, these are emotional attachments and aversions involving money. Financial fear, greed, obsessiveness. You need to clear these in order to receive the money. Tithing and charity are great devotional actions you can perform to couple with the internal work behind relieving these issues.

2.) Choose the sphere or energy you're going to work with. Jupiter provides circumstantial life changing situations, Saturn helps with investment, saving, and storing money, Venus helps with growing money.

3.) Frame the petition with a balance between ambiguity. "Please make me rich" is too ambiguous. "Send me $5m dollars" is ridiculous. "I would like the financial freedom to fund my projects, spend more time with my loved ones, and generate my own income" is what you're aiming for.

4.) Open as many avenues in the sphere as possible on the physical plane.
  • If you're working with Jupiter any avenue that money can come down open it and follow his lead as he sends you synchronicities. Sometimes its a promotion, he may point you at a different job or even career, you never know how this is going to manifest so just listen and follow. Jupiter does not like financial fear or distrust in his methods. He is big on traditional acts of charity.
  • Saturn you're going to work on financial literacy while being incredibly disciplined about your spending and saving. Saturn likes tithing especially within his sphere. Donating to legal defense funds/stuff along those lines gets the juices flowing.
  • Venus you're going to develop and grow side hustles and creative projects. With her she just wants you to exalt the feminine where you find it in your life.

5.) Regular devotion and ritual timed to the sphere and conjuration of spirits. The initial request WILL be fulfilled just maintain rapport and a relationship with what you are working with.

6.) Do not test their methods. Once the money starts coming in don't ask for more, don't get greedy, don't start gambling. What you get is what they're giving you and you're being tested. If you trust that the result will happen it will happen. If you get a couple hundred dollars one day and immediately start doing magic for more money you haven't resolved the karmic issue.

Put in some time with this kind of magic. It is all about trusting the plan, if you can relieve the karmic issues with money and trust the process they will create a situation for you to live the way you want. My big wealth spell that gave me the ability to retire lasted for 8 months.

Your story sounds really interesting to me, and your approach echoes ideas the Arbatel spirits have communicated to me in my own practice years ago. Problem is I'm still a broke schlub, trying to figure out how to get everything to work better. I'm not at risk of being un-housed, and I'm able to maintain a comfortable, though somewhat restricted lifestyle, but I would really like to actually get ahead, rather than scraping by. Honestly, most of the magicians I've known have not been able to retire at a young age or have any sort of spectacular wealth — in fact, most of them are in just as serious of debt (if not worse) than everyone else — which has put me in a place of doubting whether any of this stuff is even worth it at all, or if it actually works. This is in spite of years of solid, perceivable, results in every other area of personal magickal accomplishment except for conjuring money. One of my concerns relates to my natal astrology, and the positioning of Jupiter and Saturn in their fall and detriment, respectively.

Are you able to discuss the way in which you came into money to retire at 33? Was it through wise investment primarily, or managing to start a company then sell/exit at peak profitability? We're about the same age and I'd like to get to that point myself, or at least have enough passive income that I can do what I want without worrying about anything. If you're not able to discuss it due to identity concerns or magickal oaths, no worries, I totally get it. I've read quite a bit on finance and entrepreneurship and at this point most of it seems to be bs, beyond the basics of making sure to invest in stable securities that give dividends and to not completely blow your money on worthless trash.

You may also want to consider that performing a single mammoth ritual at the start of your career towards wealthe might not be enough and that you might have to use magic continually to solve specific problems, remove obstacles or just to keep your momentum going. As Peter J. Carroll who made himself rich with an essential oil & cosmetics wholesale company in the Nineties commented:

I don’t think any promotional material ever left the premises without me casting a spell over it. (Peter J. Carroll, Ian Blumberg-Enge, "Interview with a Wizard")

The magical aim of becoming wealthy touches on so many areas of the human experience that it's as good as inconceivable that a single initial operation will suffice. As @AbammonTheGreat already mentioned, there may be some subconscious resistance and negative attitudes concerning money hidden within you that block your way to success; to his list of deities I'd add Hermes for general financial fluidity, quick decisions when they are required, thinking on one's feet as well as a certain glibness for business negotiations and marketing purposes. Now I'm not saying you need to resolve all those mentality issues first before you can even think about becoming wealthy but you may have to deal with them at one point of your journey towards prosperity. So one general success ritual to get the ball rolling, the next one to become inspired as to which business idea you should pursue, another one to raise capital, a dunning servitor … it could be a magical education in and of itself.

I'm familiar with things like protection, or cursing, but I have not discovered the "formula" for wealth magic yet.
Wealth and conformity exist in proportion to each other. Nonconformity is the poison of all profits. Want to have what the other guys have? You've got to do the things they do the same way they do them. That goes for anything from maverick investing to operating a conveyor belt. Find an existing stream of money-making and property-having, and remake yourself to conform to its demands inside and out, top to bottom.

Independent wealth is a lie. There is no such thing. Somebody is always hanging your whole life over a fiery pit, whether it's the bank or the government or the mafia. One way or another, wealth isn't really yours, you just get to exercise discretion over a portion of it. All those famous rich people are effectively owned and will be destroyed if they buck the system.

Remember also that behind every great fortune is a great crime. When you find someone restoring a castle in France for their home, ask enough questions and you'll discover that they were an Enron investor or some other disreputable thing. The modern business system is designed to profit less than 10% on the whole, usually less than 3% over expenses, so if you see someone making better than that you can usually assume they're either involved in crime or they are hiding a massive amount of overhead.

Owing to all these factors, the best application of wealth magic is not to make money but to achieve SLACK. If you aren't familiar with the concept of slack, get yourself the Book of the Subgenius and it might change your life forever. Aim at the quality of life you want, not the income you want.

So here comes in the question: what's the point of practicing magick and attempting to conjure for wealth at all if it doesn't lead to any distinct outcomes from the rest of people? If I would have been better off following the track originally laid out for me due to the conformity that would have been part of that, why try to conjure wealth or do any of this at all? The texts of magick promise access to treasure and vast amounts of money, not "slack." The idea of it is cute, but the pinnacle of slack (for those of us in the normal track without hereditary wealth) is being a NEET living off the government while having miniscule amounts of income from gig work or self-employment. That's not a very magickal or fulfilling lifestyle. Better than being a grocery clerk maybe, but not significantly so. I want to be able to afford to fly across the world, first class, at the drop of a hat and go visit the cultural artefacts of our heritage in Europe; not be stuck looking for bargain deals on meat at the grocery store, hearing my neighbors yelling about they're taking each other to court for restraining orders, and worrying about whether the government will kick me off their health insurance. Without significant amounts of money, that is impossible, no matter how much "slack" you aim for.

I always said, that "you can sit on your ass and do Job spells over and over again, but nothing is going to come your way unless you get out there and DO something about it" - and in this case, maybe not with a job, but magic works best when used in conjunction with action on the physical plane.

That might sound counter-intuitive to many people's conceptions of what magic is and can do, but I think it is the best approach when it comes to this. You have to make avenues in the world for it to manifest. Using magic alongside proper physical action acts in many ways like a spring-board to achieving a goal. Not in all cases, but the nature of the Earth-sphere is often so.
