Freemasonry can be seen as a way of life centered on ethics, personal growth, and self-improvement rather than the highly esoteric organization it is often portrayed to be. While its symbols, traditions, and rituals may create an aura of mystery, the daily practice of Freemasonry emphasizes values such as brotherhood, integrity, tolerance, continuous learning, and service to others.
Although symbolic teachings play an important role, Freemasonry is not primarily focused on the occult or hidden knowledge. Instead, it uses symbolism as a tool for reflection and moral development. In this sense, it is far less esoteric than it appears from the outside, serving mainly as a framework for helping individuals become better people and contribute positively to society.

Yes. And this should be the basis for any initiatory society . Even Crowley set that up with the OTO , primarily describing it as having that same function that you do , or ''How should a young man make his way in the world '' . Its also education for us in how to maintain 'fraternity ' , 'bonds' , 'good old fashioned 'decent and respectful fellowship ' .

In the early degrees ... the 'Prima materia' needs to be developed after that' the magic' can be taught - you need a good strong and balanced vessel first , before you start filling it .

This seems to be the process in the Freemasonic 'Blue Lodge ' .... after that , one might go 'Royal Arch' - 'Red Lodge ' where the teachings are more 'esoteric and magical' .

From a Masonic perspective, the Royal Arch is essentially symbolic, as it conveys moral, spiritual, and initiatic teachings through allegories, legends, and symbols. Its primary purpose is not to develop a system of abstract reasoning as philosophy does, but rather to communicate truths and principles through symbolism. Although it can give rise to philosophical interpretations and profound reflections, its nature and method of instruction are fundamentally symbolic rather than philosophical.
