I would love to play this game with actual people involved with the occult. I love the setting of the game, and I wonder what do you guys actually think of it?

For those who never heard of it: Is a Table Top RPG where everyone plays as modern mages in the modern setting. Reality is completely subjective, in a way that if everyone believes in something, it becomes true. This is called the "Consensus". Mages are able to alter reality, however, they need to do it in secret, since if they affect the consensus, they gain paradox and might lose their magic, or even get erased from reality.

In modern society, a group of very powerful mages know as the Technocracy has taken control, and what they do is basically use rational and logical thinking to disguise magic as science in order to alter and manipulate the consensus. The players are part of a a group of mages that are opposed to the Tecnocracy and are fighting to restore traditional magic and bring more wonderous magic to the world.

There is a lot more to the setting, that is just the very start, and I was just wondering if any of you guys have ever played it before...

I have DM'd a few games of it and it was an absolute blast. If a group of actual mages gets together for it, I would love to play or host for it!

I'm also familiar with Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Vampire: The Masquerade

Yes, and I really find some ideas of Mage: The Awakening, the second version of this RPG, very similar to some of Josephine's Mccarthy magical concepts (astral Temenos, temples of the elements, and that kind of stuff)... not insinutaing anything, though, but the similarities are funny.

I've never DM'd or played mage, but I've dm and played other games. If you are up to, I would love to play it!

Mage is not very beginner friendly because of how subjective and transparent the rules can be. Still, it's my favorite, the magic system is limited to your imagination because aside from some suggestions in the book, there aren't any pre-written spells.

I also adore the early 90's grunge-punk-matrix aesthetic of it. I tried running Loom of Fate, but found it was just 1,000x better to make the story homebrewed based off the interests of the players
