There's a loud little "human faced" looking dog down the road that I met because someone who lived on the property had a mulberry tree and I asked about it.. the dogs name is Laddy.

When a dog barks I generally wince because I'm pretty sensitive to loud sounds and little barking dogs sounds are one of my least favorite of those..

Anyway, I was also intimidated..

But after I found out he's friendly.. I started hearing him speak through barks..
He said "aww! everyone just walks by" (basically)
And then he said something else like that later.. I think he said "come back"..

I've heard my aunts pig say "mama" a lot I think.. other animals too..

Maybe this shouldn't be considered occult when there are those buttons animals can press to communicate..
But I find it intriguing because one specific animal I think is smarter than people realize and doesn't want me blabbing about it.

honestly, i'm quite torn on this... i have a very strong empathetic ability, and can connect really well with animals, but i tend to get somewhat cautious when it comes to pure "telepathic" reads; i have been around people during my time in occult circles who'd "read" other humans' minds, and consider that intuition to be as authentic as something actually said... most of the times it wasn't correct, and it's arguably a form of disrespect for the individuality of the other...

dogs have a great ability to communicate with humans, using body language and facial expressions, and one can learn a lot about the species-unique body language of dogs and cats, which carries a lot of information that we can be certain was intended by the animal (whom i consider individuals worthy of the respect we'd grant another human)

so personally in your place i'd relate to these "overheard voices" with curiosity, and without assumptions...

Animals are pretty amazing, and certainly can both understand a couple hundred words on average of human words, as well as use telepathic connection. Especially domesticated species that have been with humans for thousands of generations.

However, I also agree with @ahathoor that a pure, word-based telepathic link isn't usually how it works. Most animals use a more impulse and imagery-based communication style. My favorite example is a form of horse training where you don't just heel the horse and make a sound to indicate it's time to go fast, you also have to project the feeling you have when you're taking a first step of a run. I had a good connection with my cat for a while, and it was just entitled demands 70% of the time, pure love 25%, and then predatory in the zone stuff 5%.

My only thought on this would be that the dog is looking for or asking about someone associated with the sound "mama." My partner and I jokingly call ourselves "mama" and "papa" around out cat, so hey, that's how she might think about us.

There aren't a lot of good tutorials or guides I've seen online about how to hone your communication skill, but it might be worth asking in the book requests section if anyone has anything worth reading.
