Hello everyone,
I am a man in my early 40s from Michigan (the northern state in USA that looks like a mitten). My hobbies are gardening, drawing and I am a big music lover. Metal and hard rock were always my favorite genres but as I grow older I have branched out to listen to all different kinds of music such as folk, electronic, experimental, etc. I also love to read. History is my favorite subject.
I am here to learn new things and seek new information. I used to be very into magick when I was younger, but over the years became an alcoholic and let that and many other interests go to the wayside. Not that I wasn't still reading, but I spent around a decade in depression and binge drinking and just became very cynical and hopeless about life. Finally back in February of this year, I decided to clean myself up and quit drinking. At the same time, I got a new job that is more of a physical challenge, which further helped me become physically healthier.
Since then, I have felt better, but also struggled in general to find meaning in life. I have been revisiting a lot of topics that always interested me, for example; theosophy, Asatru, Golden Dawn, Terrence McKenna, chaos magick and gnosticism. I also really enjoy many of the philosophical viewpoints and values I have read about in Stoic and Buddhist writings.
Thanks for your time and hopefully we will have interesting conversations!
