Hi, to tell you a little about myself, I have been interested in esotericism and Kabbalah for some time, never delving deeply into them but very interested in learning about them. I was mainly interested in the history, and that's more or less how I ended up learning a lot more about them. Through my search, I managed to find books that taught me a lot, two by Owen Davis, “Grimoires: A History of Magic Book” and “The Oxford History of Witchcraft and Magic” and also “The Black Arts” by Richard Cavendish. As I said before, it was through history that I ended up learning about the whole tradition and history behind it, and I was fascinated, so I wanted to delve deeper and learn more about it. It was during that search that I found this site, and I wanted to learn, so I said, “Why not?” and decided to open an account.

Welcome!

The Black Arts” by Richard Cavendish... that was my first occult book. Back when it came out.

Started collecting Geshom Sholem Kabbalah books right after.

If you hadn't told me about Geshom Sholem's Kabbalah, I wouldn't know what it is. That's exactly what I'm looking for: historical rigor and scientific method behind the books. Now I know what to look for.

They are the best. Real scholarly works, written in language you don't need to already be a Kabbalist to understand. Heck, I was a 13 yo R.C.

If you have any other recommendations, I'd love to hear them. Besides the ones I've already mentioned, I'm not sure where else to look, but I'll start a thread later to ask.
