Hello everyone,
I have not been involved with the occult much for about 10 years now but felt the itch to try stuff again. Stumbled on this forum by accident while searching for an completely unrelated matter and joined today to see what's going on and to find some recommendations.
I have always been fascinated by tales of the mystic arts since I was a kid and started to get into the occult when I was in a bad place mentally years back. I was stuck in a job I had no means of escaping from with a workaholic boss that drove me to near burnout. Dove straight into LHP books and joined the forum of "Become a living Lolcow" (not my finest hour). Started with 1 of the books of that circle but did not resonate with me at all.
Dove into meditation, hermetics, dreamwork, shamanism and druidry a bit but had little success. Felt desperate for results and did my first real initiation ritual into the "draconic current" that went nowhere immediately and to doubts later. Had the bright idea to work with Astaroth for a bit because I needed a break urgently (worst time of the burnout) and underestimated the laziness part of his repertoire. Got complacent and fat over the years...sh*t happens and you learn.
Read through a bit of chaos magick after that and felt most at ease there. Liber Null & Psychonautik, Hands-On Chaos Magic, Condensed Chaos and The Psychonaut Field Manual are still somewhere on my bookshelf but I did not have the energy to actually work with anything to a meaningful degree for years.
Now my life is in a much better place. Changed jobs, have awesome friends, colleagues and a much stabler mind in general (still fat though :/ ). Stumbled onto a video by Foolishfish about the new book by Peter J. Carroll that now sat on my desk for weeks. Today I opened it and now here we are somehow
I hope you all have a great day and I will see you around.
Vaelen
