Hi Everyone,

I'm happy to see there are still occult communities gathering online. I'm a western practitioner and have been at it for 15 or so years.

I don't like proselytising or discussing theories online because I've had the idea "being silent" about my spiritual practice beaten into my head pretty successfully (unless I genuinely believe it can benefit someone). Silence about occult practices is one of the observances that has taught me the most over the years... something that has to be wrestled with and adhered to totally in order to realise what it can teach. Also I don't have "my own" theories at this point. I'm a student of the systems I follow and a bhakti yogi or devotee of the universe, at heart.

From my point of view, it's obvious that occultism has many practical applications but it can also lead to spiritual insight if approached in the right manner. Probably one of the most important points is to understand what is meant by spiritual freedom, or enlightenment, or how we termed it in my lineage "the Completion of the Great Work". If you know what you're aiming for, you can know when you've gone astray. And it seems there are many opportunities for occultists to end up getting tangled in something they couldn't have foreseen or never intended to get mixed up in, on the physical, psychological and/or energetic planes. Anyway, I approach occultism from this standpoint. It can be very powerful, it can be dangerous, it can be easy, difficult, whatever. People are led in a direction that is personal to them when they step on a path. But this is the direction I try to orient / reorient myself towards as a practitioner : towards freedom for myself and others.
